Overview
Kimley-Horn's Orange office is seeking an Experienced Electrical Engineer or Analyst with 3+ ears of experience to join their MEP team. This position is in-office/in-person.
Responsibilities
Join our MEP team to support electrical engineering across large-scale data center, healthcare, and commercial projects. Your role will encompass a variety of key responsibilities, ensuring high-quality and efficient project outcomes.
Responsibilities:
+ **Active Production Role on Project Teams:** Participate actively in project teams, contributing to the design and implementation of robust electrical systems for data centers, healthcare facilities, and commercial buildings.
+ **Project Meetings:** Engage in project meetings with internal and external clients, ensuring effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
+ **Preparation of Project Specifications:** Develop precise project specifications to guide the construction and implementation of electrical systems.
+ **Electrical Construction Cost Estimates:** Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical construction, ensuring budget adherence and value engineering.
+ **Cross-Functional Team Collaboration:** Work daily with cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines, fostering innovation and integrated project delivery.
+ **Coordination and Verification of As-Built Drawings:** Ensure accurate coordination and verification of as-built drawings for compliance and quality assurance.
+ **Quality Work for Client Retention:** Perform quality work that promotes client satisfaction and retention, adhering to Kimley-Horn’s standards of excellence.
+ **Equipment Power Needs Coordination:** Coordinate with architects, mechanical/plumbing engineers, and other disciplines to determine equipment power needs and size electrical distribution appropriately.
+ **Electrical Design Calculations:** Perform electrical design calculations for electrical loads and panel schedules, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
+ **Development of Design Documents:** Responsible for creating comprehensive reports and design documents, including electrical design plans, equipment selection, solar system sizing, and power analyses.
Qualifications
+ 3+ years of design experience in electrical engineering
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (advanced degrees are a plus)
+ EIT or ability to obtain within 6 months required
+ Firm understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards, and energy codes
+ Understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards, and energy codes
+ Proficiency using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD)
+ Building Information Modeling (BIM – Autodesk Revit) experience is a plus
+ Power Analyses (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, device coordination) in SKM or ETAP
+ Electrical power, lighting, and fire alarm design experience
+ Superior verbal and written communication skills
+ The ability to work independently or in a team environment effectively - The ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment
Salary Range:
$105,000 to $125,000
