Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to join our team on a part-time basis in the Bronx. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of recent phlebotomy experience, be proficient with straight needles, and possess strong communication skills. The ability to speak both Spanish and English is essential.
Responsibilities
+ Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and update patient information.
+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
+ Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection procedures, such as urine or fecal collection.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
+ Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
+ Package specimens for transport.
+ Store specimen samples at the required temperature, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, and accurately label them.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 2 years' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with specimen collection and blood draws.
+ Ability to perform a mock blood draw with a phlebotomy professional.
Work Environment
The position is part-time, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 10 am to 3 pm, totaling 25 hours per week. The work is performed in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting, requiring reliable and punctual attendance.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bronx, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
