Job Summary
The Department of Radiology, under the direction of Dr. Craig Galban, is seeking an Assistant Research Scientist. Emphasis will be placed on applicants with a strong record of research accomplishment in one or more of the following areas:advanced CT imaging, artificial intelligence, and clinical data science methods. Our Biomedical Imaging group has an excellent record of NIH and industry funded research in critical care and respiratory medicine, with a focus on COPD, lung complications associated with chronic graft-versus host disease in lung and bone marrow transplant, and deployment-related respiratory disease in veterans.
Responsibilities*
The emphasis of this research position is on establishing an independent research program that aligns with and extends the current work in Dr. Craig Galban's lab. The candidate is expected to build data-driven approaches that combine quantitative CT with longitudinal clinical data to improve disease phenotyping, risk stratification, and outcome prediction in patients with lung disease. They will also participate in on-going projects as well as develop innovative ideas and independent research projects to seek extramural funding. The ability to work in a multi-disciplinary collaborative environment is important along with excellent oral and written communication skills. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the multiplicity and excellence of the academic community.
Required Qualifications*
This position requires a PhD or MD/PhD degree inElectrical,Biomedical orComputerEngineering,Mathematics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, ComputerScience, orStatistics. In addition, candidates need experience in quantitative imaging and working with large clinical datasets, strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or R, and excellent analytical and data analysis skills.
