Join a dynamic global controls team where you will collaborate with motivated experts and innovators in the data center industry. You will be tasked with troubleshooting, project management, and maintaining the building management system (BMS) and electrical power monitoring system (EPMS). Your role involves developing new processes and standards while innovating in the controls space. The data centers house various components that have local control systems interacting via open and proprietary communications protocols. The BMS is used primarily for controlling mechanical systems, while the EPMS monitors electrical systems.
Responsibilities
+ Train and assist internal customers and stakeholders with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of BMS and EPMS systems.
+ Provide technical assistance and support to operations throughout the data center lifecycle.
+ Review results and action items from quarterly maintenances for BMS and EPMS and resolve them.
+ Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and levels of effort for BMS & EPMS projects requested by customers and stakeholders.
+ Manage scope, schedule, finance, and execution of BMS and EPMS improvement projects in data centers.
+ Assist in procurement activities including requests for quotation/proposals, responding to requests for information, reviewing vendor proposals, and issuing purchase orders.
+ Attend project-related meetings, coordinate with project leaders, and report status to controls and stakeholder management.
+ Support controls projects related to commissioning activities in data centers.
+ Review, implement, troubleshoot, and iterate on controls sequence of operation and provide feedback to the design team.
+ Develop and modify controls logic programming and graphical user interfaces.
+ Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables and navigate challenging situations.
+ Financially manage BMS and EPMS service contracts.
+ Visit assigned data centers locally to troubleshoot, meet customers, and supervise vendor work for compliance with scope, design, and applicable codes.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent engineering science plus 5+ years of relevant controls experience, or 10+ years of relevant controls experience in lieu of a degree.
+ 5+ years of experience with industrial controls in critical environments such as data centers, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, oil & gas, petrochemical, laboratory, power, water, etc.
+ 4+ years of general project or vendor management experience associated with construction and project execution.
+ Experience with SCADA, PLC programming, programming, building automation systems, and HVAC control.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ MS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Controls/Automation).
+ Experience designing, configuring, programming, installing, troubleshooting, or servicing HVAC Controls or Electrical SCADA systems.
+ Experience using common industrial communication protocols such as MQTT, BACnet, and MODBUS.
+ Understanding of engineering documentation, electrical and mechanical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
+ Ability to manage multiple stakeholder deliverables and navigate difficult situations.
+ Experience designing data centers or critical MEP infrastructure.
+ Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) or certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
Work Environment
The role involves working in data centers with multiple components such as generators, uninterruptible power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, automatic/static transfer switches, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, CRAHs, air economizers, etc. The environment requires interaction with local control systems and open or proprietary communications protocols. The position may involve frequent local visits to assigned data centers to ensure compliance with scope, design, sequence of operation, and applicable codes.

This is a Contract position based out of Herndon, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr.
