    The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is hiring for an Office Services Supervisor 1. This position is responsible for managing the Magic Valley Regional office's front support staff work unit in Jerome.

    Responsibilities:

    + Supervision

    o Manages the IDFG Magic Valley Regional office's front support staff work unit.

    o Responsible for hiring, completing performance evaluations, delegating work assignments, professional development, problem solving, and crisis management.

    o Ensures effective workflow, operational consistency, and integration of work units and is accountable for the work performed.

    o Evaluates, trains, and directly supports staff by developing expectations, objectives, and counseling employees.

    + Administrative Management Support

    o Provides administrative support to the Magic Valley Regional Supervisor and program leaders.

    o Performs other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

    + Enforcement Officer Support

    o Provides license and citation lookups, radio monitoring.

    + Management of Daily Operations

    o Accounts payable monitoring and approval.

    o Budget monitoring.

    o Review and approve front support staff’s timesheets.

    o Provides new employee orientation to the region's staff.

    o Schedules and coordinates arrangements for on-site and off-site meetings and conferences, to include facilities, equipment, and minutes.

    o Assesses office needs and makes recommendations to management regarding equipment, space and staff requirements.

    o Composes letters, correspondence, and memos requiring independent judgment as to content and analyzes information from a variety of sources to prepare reports.

    o Utilize a variety of computer programs to create, process, and maintain a variety of documents and administrative records containing technical information and difficult formats.

    + Customer Service Program

    o Provides license sales, hunting and fishing information to department customers and provides license vendor support.

    o Provides customer support with road kills, injured or orphaned animals, depredation problems, live traps, and pest advice; this position requires the handling of live and dead wildlife!

    o Responds to inquiries and explains department services, policies, procedures, and rationale for decisions to customers.

    o Provides quality and effective customer service to both external and internal customers.

    o Maintains office hours (generally Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.); some overnight travel may be required to attend meetings.

     

    Minimum Qualifications:(All qualifications listed below are required. To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the minimum experience and/or education standards as outlined in each of the typical qualification guidelines. A detailed resume or work history must be submitted, clearly demonstrating/supporting how you meet each requirement. This information is essential to our initial evaluation process.     + Good knowledge of office support functions. (Typically gained by at least one year of experience in an office environment performing a wide variety of office support functions as the predominant responsibility of the job, (answering telephones, using knowledge of computer software, filing systems and general office equipment) OR completion of two semesters of Office Procedures coursework AND six months of office support experience.)

    + Some knowledge of supervisory practices. (Typically gained through completion of a class or seminar (of more than one day) specifically covering supervisory practices OR completion of a college course covering supervisory practices OR lead work experience that involved work assignment, direction, and monitoring of staff (such experience on a fill-in basis is non-qualifying unless for a minimum of three months.))

    + Experience interpreting, applying and explaining complex information such as regulations, policies or services. (Typically gained by at least one year of work experience interpreting and explaining complex information such as policies, procedures, regulations, or laws and also had responsibility for explaining discrepancies or explaining to others how the information applied to their specific situations.)

    + Experience independently solving problems/performing liaison activities to deal with individuals or resolve conflicts in a work setting. (Typically gained by at least one year of experience requiring problem-solving skills in dealing with individuals to resolve conflicts in a work setting. Supervisors, lead workers, team facilitators, and product service representatives or high-level customer service are examples of background that may qualify.)

     

    The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in serving the mission of the Department of Fish and Game, and will have knowledge and an appreciation for hunting, fishing and trapping activities. They must also be willing to assist customers with issues such as roadkill, injured or orphaned animals, depredation problems, live traps, and pest advice; as well as a willingness to handle harvested animals. Additional consideration may be given at the time of interview to candidates who have some knowledge or experience in hunting, fishing and trapping.
