We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to lead and manage aftermarket engineering projects, including control system retrofits, panel upgrades, MCC modifications, and generator excitation enhancements. This role requires a proactive individual who can serve as the primary technical interface for customer support, field service, and proposal teams on electrical matters, ensuring all deliverables meet industry standards and customer specifications.
Responsibilities
+ Own and drive aftermarket engineering projects, such as control system retrofits, panel upgrades, MCC modifications, and generator excitation enhancements.
+ Serve as the primary technical interface for customer support, field service, and proposal teams on electrical matters.
+ Develop and review comprehensive drawing packages, including electrical single-line diagrams, breaker control schematics, and wiring diagrams.
+ Design and specify control panels, MCCs, and field wiring systems for new and retrofit applications.
+ Interface with and configure major control systems, including Siemens and GE.
+ Integrate AVR systems, excitation equipment, and field instrumentation for turbine-generator control.
+ Ensure deliverables comply with IEC, IEEE, NEC, and NFPA 70 standards.
+ Coordinate with controls, mechanical, and project management teams to ensure seamless integration.
+ Participate in FATs, SATs, and commissioning to validate system operation and design compliance.
+ Support proposal and estimation activities for aftermarket bids and scope changes.
+ Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in engineering documentation.
Essential Skills
+ 10+ years of experience in electrical controls engineering.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
+ Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in power generation, OEM systems, or industrial electrical design.
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar CAD tools.
+ Hands-on experience with AVR/excitation systems, gas turbine auxiliary controls, and field instrumentation.
+ Strong background in major PLC/DCS platforms.
+ Proven ability to design breaker control schematics and protection circuits.
+ Experience with commissioning, FAT/SAT, and troubleshooting of power generation equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Preferred experience with Woodward control systems.
+ OEM or Aftermarket experience.
+ Solid understanding of generator control logic, power distribution, and protective relaying principles.
Work Environment
This position is primarily remote, with the requirement to travel to the CT office during the first week, fully paid for. There will be occasional travel to project sites. The office is newly remodeled, offering a clean and bright environment with on-site amenities like a restaurant and nearby shopping. The dress code is business casual. The role offers a hybrid schedule with flexible start and stop times, and the company promotes a positive work environment with quarterly outings and holiday parties. Candidates can be based anywhere on the East Coast, with a preference for NY/NJ/CT locations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glastonbury, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.07 - $62.00/hr.
