Job Title: Software Engineer (DevSecOps)
Job Description
Join a dynamic team to design and advance a distributed software system that manages sensor scheduling, orchestration, and data flow across diverse environments. You will develop and deploy containerized microservices utilizing Python, Docker, and Kubernetes in cloud, on-premise, and edge settings. Your role will involve implementing robust messaging and event pipelines for real-time communication between sensors, services, and operators, optimizing for performance and reliability, and ensuring low-latency, high-availability operation in challenging field and mission conditions.
Responsibilities
+ Collaborate cross-functionally with scientists, developers, and mission operators to integrate new features, algorithms, and hardware into the platform.
+ Define and enforce engineering best practices for CI/CD, observability, system testing, and deployment automation.
+ Contribute to system security and compliance, including container hardening, authentication, and secure configuration management.
+ Prototype and deliver quickly, balancing experimentation with disciplined software development.
Essential Skills
+ At least 5 years of professional Python experience.
+ At least 2 years of experience in distributed systems, networking, and service-to-service communication.
+ At least 1 year of experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment systems.
+ At least 3 years of experience in both cloud-based and on-premise/edge software deployments.
+ Ability to obtain or possess a Common Access Card.
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
+ Must be a U.S Citizen.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Space domain awareness experience.
+ Familiarity with astrodynamics, orbital mechanics, or Space Domain Awareness (SDA).
+ Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and test automation.
+ Experience working with real-world sensor systems (e.g., cameras, telescopes, RF sensors).
+ Working knowledge of streaming architectures and time-series data processing.
+ Contributions to open-source projects or demonstrated independent technical initiatives.
Work Environment
This role is fully remote with a requirement for a home office setup. Candidates can work from various time zones and create their own schedule, committing to 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. You will be operating in a modern, modular environment using technologies such as Python (primary language), Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, RabbitMQ, ZeroMQ, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, GitLab CI/CD, Argo, Terraform, Prometheus, Grafana, with deployment targets including AWS, self-hosted clusters, and edge nodes.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Colorado Springs, CO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $160000.00/yr.
