Job Title: Controls Engineer
Job Description
As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing and understanding customer needs to design control system functionality that optimizes their processes and provides effective solutions. You will work independently and be a key technical problem solver, delivering outstanding service and unique customer solutions. You will also manage projects and provide primary technical expertise in PLC programming.
Responsibilities
+ Meet with customers to analyze and understand their requirements for control systems.
+ Analyze design requirements to fit customer process needs and recommend methods to achieve design requirements.
+ Design control system functionality to address or improve customer processes.
+ Determine preliminary designs and record them in the Project Overview Scope documentation.
+ Review designs with the engineering manager and sales team, obtaining customer sign-off before accepting purchase orders.
+ Create final quote documentation for each assigned project opportunity.
+ Specify hardware and software components to support recommended systems.
+ Create and obtain approval for wiring schematics and control panel layouts.
+ Develop a bill of materials.
+ Design human-machine interfaces (HMI).
+ Develop programmable logic controller (PLC) ladder and other source codes such as Visual Basic.
+ Write PLC and HMI source code.
+ Simulate and debug written code.
+ Start up and debug code and system functionality at customer facilities.
+ Prepare as-built documents for distribution to customer engineering staff.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in PLC Programming.
+ Experience in HMI Programming.
+ Drive and motivation to learn various programming languages.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with CODESYS is a huge plus.
+ Experience with AutoCAD.
+ Background in controls engineering.
Work Environment
The position is office-based from Monday to Friday with a business casual dress code. There is flexibility in scheduling, with a preference for on-site presence daily. Travel is less than 5%.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $36.05/hr.
