    Job Description

    _Maintenance Mechanic -Mount Sinai Morningside_

     

    Performance a variety of maintenance duties including but not limiting to building, maintaining installing, removing, and/or replacing.

    Qualifications

    _Requirements:_

    + High School or trade Vocational diploma required or completion of a training program recognized by BIMC

    + Must have minimum of 5 years related experience.

    Compensation Statement

     

    The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $39.92 - $43.01 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

     

    IUOE at Saint Luke's and West (Engineers), BHD - Engineering Facilities Management - STL, Mount Sinai St. Luke's

    Responsibilities

    + Performs work assigned by Supervisor from drawings, sketches, verbal instructions or from work (repair) request on file.

    + Operates, maintains, and repairs electrical equipment, lighting, alarm, and intercom equipment using appropriate tools and testing equipment.

    + Periodically checks and tests emergency equipment; cleans electrical starters, motors etc.

    + Reads and interprets blueprints while performing duties.

    + Maintains necessary records as required

    + Cleans work areas, tools, equipment, and machines

    + May supervise a maintenance worker or trades helper.

    + If assigned to HVAC Shop, performs job of HVAC mechanic and all attendant responsibilities .

    + Operates, repairs, and maintains HVAC equipment and adjusts controls in assigned area.

    + Performs general maintenance and repair work as assigned or directed.

    + Changes filters, cleans units, and maintain logs. c. Reads control diagrams.

    + Replaces control valves, thermostats, and other parts of the control systems.

    + Repairs or replaces parts of major or minor A/C systems including central chillers, fans, coils, dampers, and other components.

    + Operates machine tools in production of replacement parts and assembling of parts for operational use. May do simple jobs independently or under direction of Lead Mechanic, Sr. Machine or Machinist on more complex work.

    + Repairs, operates, and maintains building operating equipment; examines for defects in operation; removes and replaces parts.

    + Sets up or assists in installing new machines, equipment and fixtures.

    + Attends to requests for service adjustments and other trouble calls .

    + May be assigned to computer room operation (with proper training).

    + Utilizes an understanding of the computer system as it relates to HVAC operation and takes appropriate action upon receipt of information reported by computer or alarms in accordance with accepted procedures, including monitoring and resetting of fire alarms, monitoring pneumatic tube system and taking proper actions i.

    + Is available at all times, while on duty to respond to emergency situation and is available to respond to request of supervisors and department heads other than his own during an emergency situation.

    + When on night duty in addition to other HVAC duties.

    + May make simple repairs to any type of building operating equipment such as pumps, fans or compressors .

    + Performs maintenance & simple or emergency repairs in all construction trades fields.

    + Takes appropriate stop-gap measures when complete repair cannot be made at that time.

    + Makes minor repairs such as changing electric fuses, switches, and light bulbs, resetting breaker.

    + Repairs and replaces defecting bed lamps.

    + Traces leaks or breaks in water or steam lines; clears stopped up drains.

    + Performs rough carpentry work such as blocking opening causes by broker glass.

    + Forces open locked cabinets, doors, lockers, as requested by authorized personnel, after obtaining appropriate security clearance.

    + Investigates reports of fire, smoke, odor and other irregular occurrences, and takes appropriate action.

    + If assigned to Preventive Maintenance Shop.

    + Operates machine tools in production of replacement parts and assembling of parts for operational use.

    + May do simple jobs independently or under direction of Lead Mechanic, Sr. Machine or Machinist on more complex works.

    + May repair any type of building operating equipment, such as pumps, fans, or compressors.

    + May do simple repairs independently.

    + May assist other on more complicated repairs.

    + Replaces glass columns, cuffs, and bulbs in wall, floor, and pocket blood pressure equipment; fills with mercury; calibrates.

    + Examines for defects in operation; dismantles as required to gain access to defective parts; removes, repairs, or replaces parts; reassembles and makes necessary adjustments to insure efficient operation.

    + Make simple repairs to pneumatic tube system and parts; if regularly assigned to pneumatic tube duty makes more complex repairs and advises supervisor of any down time or when outside service is required.

    + May be assigned to computer room operation (with proper training). Utilizes familiarity with and works with operation equipment such as fire alarms, pneumatic tubes.

    + Interprets computer messages and coded alarms.

    + Notifies appropriate parties of various events or activities reported by computer in accordance with accepted procedures.
