    Position Overview:

    • The Lactation Consultant is responsible for providing lactation consultation and education for breastfeeding mothers at Alta Bates Medical Center regardless of age, race, religion, ability, and economic or social status.

    • The Lactation Consultant has excellent assessment and implementation skills to assist the breastfeeding mother attain her individual goals.

    **Job Description** :

    EDUCATION

    + Graduate from an accredited school of nursing Required.

    + BSN Preferred

    EXPERIENCE

    + Minimum of two years of experience in perinatal nursing or perinatal education Preferred. Minimum two years of experience counseling breastfeeding women Preferred.

    + Experience supporting breastfeeding in NICU preferred

    CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

    + RN-Registered Nurse of California Required

    + BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Required

    + IBCLC-International Board Certified Lactation Consultant Required

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

    + Excellent communication skills

    + Excellent maternal/infant assessment skills

    + Ability to effectively prioritize work responsibilities

    + Excellent documentation skills

    + Effective teaching skills

    + Flexibility in a changing environment

    Pay Range is $86.68 to $114.41 / hour
