Job Summary
Key Responsibilities
•Lead the overall vision, strategy, and execution of the United Center’s retail operations, encompassing in-arena retail, warehouse and logistics, permanent stores, and off-site retail locations.
•Oversee the Retail Department’s senior leadership team, ensuring operational excellence, financial accountability, and brand consistency across all units.
•Develop and implement multi-year business strategies focused on sales growth, operational efficiency, and enhanced guest experience.
•Collaborate with the Director of Operations, clients for the Bulls and Blackhawks, Concert Tour Management, and executive leadership to define departmental objectives, annual budgets, and key performance metrics.
•Direct and support all General Managers and senior leaders across the Retail Department, ensuring alignment in processes, policies, and operational standards.
•Ensure warehouse logistics, event operations, and retail floor activities are seamlessly coordinated to meet the needs of Bulls, Blackhawks, and all live entertainment events.
•Lead cross-departmental coordination with Finance, Events, Marketing, and Facilities to ensure operational readiness and brand integrity.
•Drive process improvements through technology adoption, data analytics, and RFID systems to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and profitability.
•Own department-wide financial planning, forecasting, and P&L management across all retail operations.
•Use data-driven insights to guide pricing, assortment planning, inventory management, and promotional strategies.
•Oversee post-event and seasonal settlements, sales analysis, and reconciliation to ensure financial accuracy and transparency.
•Partner with Accounting and senior leadership teams to establish sales targets and manage cost controls to achieve profitability goals.
•Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of retail executives and managers, promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
•Champion the guest experience across all retail touchpoints, ensuring that every store and event delivers a consistent, engaging, and on-brand experience for fans and visitors.
•Collaborate with merchandise licensors, vendors, and brand partners to align product offerings with team and venue identities.
•Oversee visual merchandising, store presentation, and customer service standards across all retail locations.
•Serve as a primary liaison between Retail Operations and other key United Center departments, including Finance, Marketing, Event Operations, and Executive Leadership.
•Represent the Retail Department in strategic planning meetings, executive reviews, and organization-wide initiatives.
•Work closely with external partners, vendors, and brand stakeholders to ensure operational excellence and strong business relationships.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, Operations, or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
•10+ years of progressive leadership experience in multi-site retail, sports, or live entertainment operations.
•Proven success overseeing senior leaders, managing large teams, and driving financial performance in complex, high-volume environments.
•Strong strategic, analytical, and financial acumen with experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets.
•Expertise in RFID inventory systems, retail POS platforms, and data analytics tools.
•Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and data modeling).
•Exceptional leadership presence, communication, and relationship-building skills.
•Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, event-driven environments with shifting priorities.
•Flexible schedule required—must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and late-night events.
