Job Description
Day to Day:
A client of Insight Global is seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead all aspects of HR for a mission-driven nonprofit organization. This role requires a strategic and hands-on leader who can manage recruitment, employee relations, compliance, benefits, and performance management while ensuring alignment with organizational goals. The Director will serve as the primary HR resource for a 40–45 employee team, oversee legal compliance, and maintain strong relationships across all departments. Additional responsibilities include managing compensation and benefits, leading performance reviews, coordinating training and development, and ensuring adherence to FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, and other employment regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as strategic and operational leader for all HR functions
Develop and maintain HR policies and ensure compliance with labor laws
Oversee full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and retention programs
Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace culture initiatives
Administer compensation, benefits, and payroll processes
Lead performance management and professional development programs
Ensure compliance with FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, and other regulations
Maintain accurate HR records and prepare reports for leadership

Skills and Requirements
Must haves:
Minimum 7–10 years of progressive HR experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role
Comprehensive knowledge of all HR functions (not just recruiting)
Strong understanding of employment laws and compliance from a legal perspective
Ability to work independently and manage a “one-stop shop” HR function
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field Plusses
Master’s degree
Professional certifications: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP
Nonprofit experience
Experience with HRIS systems and HR data analytics
Familiarity with benefits administration and payroll oversight
