Description
PeaceHealth has a wonderful opportunity for experienced RNs to train as an Operating Room nurse at our RiverBend campus in Springfield, Oregon!
Consider this full-time OR Fellowship position at Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend, a 350-bed level II trauma center hospital. This is a 1.00 FTE, Day shift training position in our 25 Suite OR, that includes da Vinci surgical robots.
Training program details:
+ Didactic and precepted clinical time
+ Training program is a minimum 6 months in length.
+ After successful completion of the training program, you are eligible to apply for any current position in the Operating Room.
+ RNs who successfully complete the program, and are hired into a regular position, are expected to work in the OR for a minimum of 2 years after program completion.

Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend is a beautiful hospital situated along the Mckenzie River in Springfield, Oregon. Located an hour from the Pacific Ocean and 2 hours South of Portland, Oregon, Springfield and its sister city Eugene are adventure-driven destinations. Find yourself hiking to spectacular waterfalls, enjoying the nearby ocean beaches, rafting and kayaking in white water, cycling through wine country or along the many miles of bicycle paths. We have one of the most desirable locations in the Pacific Northwest to live, work, and play. In addition to year around outdoor activities, we have a wide array of educational and cultural activities at the University of Oregon, Museums of Art and Natural History, and the Hult Center for Performing Arts.
_Nurses accepted into the training program are required to remain in the position for two years or pay back all or a portion of a $5,000 sum. The obligation arises only if the nurse declines to accept an available position after having substantially completed the training program. The obligation is excused if the nurse is unable to continue in the position for reasons beyond the nurse’s control._
DETAILS OF THE POSITION:
+ Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team.
+ Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
+ Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
+ Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
+ Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
+ Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
+ Required: Accredited School of Nursing
+ Required: Minimum one-year acute care experience as an inpatient RN.
+ Required: Oregon Registered Nurse License
+ Required: Basic Life Support Certification
+ Strongly Preferred: Previous perioperative services, and/or inpatient surgical, and/or critical care experience, and/or senior practicum in the OR.
+ BSN preferred
Skills
+ Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs. (Required)
+ Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family centered work environment. (Required)
+ Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy and procedures. (Required)
+ Basic computer skills. (Required)
Working Conditions
Lifting
+ Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
+ Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
+ Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
+ Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
+ Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
+ Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
+ Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
Environmental Conditions
+ Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
+ Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
Mental/Visual
+ Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
+ Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.
