    This position is located at Central Office in St. Paul and may have the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.

     

    This position supports MnDOT’s use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) by providing technical guidance, training, and user support across the agency. The role helps staff access and apply GIS data for planning, operations, and decision-making. Key responsibilities include analyzing spatial data needs, improving workflows, creating maps and visual tools, and supporting GIS applications. The position also promotes data quality, consistency, and effective GIS use throughout MnDOT.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Three years of professional GIS experience demonstrating:

    + Experience in cartographic principles and production such as layout standards, annotations, pdf manipulation and online mapping.

    + Experience in spatial data interpretation, conversion, management, and analysis.

    + Experience in creating/soliciting, processing, analyzing, and managing spatial data and corresponding metadata.

    + Experience using Esri’s ArcGIS or similar GIS software.

     

    Note: A Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Surveying, Engineering, Planning or Computer Science substitutes for one year of professional experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience in Python, statistical operations, raster modeling, and model builder.

    + Experience providing individual technical GIS support.
