Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direct supervision, the clinical student will apply their classroom knowledge in a healthcare setting. The position will provide student rotations, externships and exposure to skills and knowledge necessary in their respective clinical areas of study.

What you will do in this role:

+ Effectively identifies predictable problems and plans assigned tasks as needed.

+ Recognizes changes in patient condition and initiates activities to facilitate appropriate responses.

+ Communicates the patient’s condition and/or change to appropriate staff and/or physician, as needed.

+ Responds promptly to changes in workload, adjusting assignments as necessary to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency.

+ Prioritizes and plans all work steps to ensure success; considers time, supplies and support required from other individuals and departments in setting up work plans and completing duties.

+ Provides pertinent shift report to other members of the team.

+ Make appropriate referrals upon admission and throughout hospitalization.

+ Consider all available options and make appropriate decisions.

+ Assists in the containment of hospital costs through appropriate use of supplies, recovery of patient charges, and conservation of supplies.

+ Assists in the evaluation of patients for appropriate levels of care and communicates with others on health care team.

+ Communicates pertinent information regarding patient’s progress and discharge planning needs to appropriate hospital and medical staff.

+ Evaluates patient progress considering the plan of care and coordinates care to achieve desired outcomes.

+ Maintains harmonious relationships with staff members, providing support and assistance to ensure quality customer service.

+ Demonstrates attitude of cooperation and professionalism.

+ Demonstrates flexibility in working hours and days scheduled in order to meet needs of the department.

+ Seeks and accepts input from Directors/ Supervisors regarding interpersonal relationships that affect the department’s harmony and service ability.

+ Follows established procedures for all treatments, performance of procedures, and medication administration.

+ Assures the patient treatment plan is followed.

What qualifications you will need:

+ Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
