Minimum Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Two years of related experience in a medical office, hospital, nursing home, or home health setting.
Required Licenses and Certifications
+ Must obtain Certified Clinical Medical Assistant certification or registration prior to starting date and maintain it as a condition of employment.
+ Ability to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 6 months of employment.
+ Eligible for certification or registration with:
+ American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA), or
+ American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or
+ National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
A well-qualified candidate will also possess
+ Previous experience in a college healthcare environment.
+ Completion of a Medical Assistant course of study.
+ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
+ Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
+ Ability to apply basic medical techniques.
+ Basic EMR documentation skills.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Responsibilities:
Patient Care
+ Provides patient care activities daily.
+ Transfers patients from reception area to exam rooms, measures vital signs, obtains height and weight, interviews patients for medical history, and updates health information in the EHR.
+ Administers medications and injections as directed by a clinician.
+ Performs basic procedures including EKGs, vision/hearing screening, ear lavage, spirometry, nebulizer treatments, swabs, and fitting orthopedic supplies.
+ Prepares patients for exams and explains procedures.
+ Assists and/or chaperones providers during exams.
+ Documents care activities in the EHR.
Medical Office
+ Greets patients and provides assistance and direction.
+ Answers telephone and responds to routine inquiries or transfers calls.
+ Obtains electronic signatures for consent to treat.
+ Assists with inventory and office equipment maintenance.
+ Stocks patient care areas as needed.
Safety and Compliance
+ Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes exam rooms and medical instruments per infection control policies.
+ Maintains a clean and safe environment.
+ Completes continuing education as required by certifying board and department policy.
Administrative Support
+ May assist in training student worker nursing assistants.
+ Participates on committees as assigned.

Location/Schedule: This is an in-person position located at the Beutel Health Center on TAMU Main Campus.
