WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
The One Publishing Team sits within Global Communications, where the team obsesses great Nike storytelling, both internally and externally. The team seeks disruption, values dexterity, displays initiative and elevates the thinking of the Global Communications team in service of better storytelling.
The role will report into the Vice President, One Publishing, and will manage two employees. As part of the One Publishing team, it will help craft stories that highlight Nike’s corporate narrative – in partners with a fellow Editorial Managing Editor who is focused on NIKE, Inc. brand stories. It will also work closely with members of the Global Communications team, including teammates in our Asia Pacific & Latin America (APLA); Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA); Greater China; and North America business units.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Director, One Publishing, Editorial Managing Editor role will drive editorial aligned to our Corporate Communications areas of focus. It will lead storytelling across internal and external Communications-owned platforms that celebrates Nike employees and leaders and tells our business value story. The role will also lead an editorial team and is responsible for a broad range of work, from envisioning and delivering creative storytelling concepts, to overseeing existing and future platforms strategies, to ensuring company information is conveyed clearly and comprehensively to key audiences.
The ideal candidate is a proven leader and creative storyteller with journalistic instincts and bold vision. They are dedicated to contributing to a strong team dynamic, leading with trust, inclusion and empathy, and valuing team success through collaboration. They are an outstanding prioritizer and editor who is culturally curious.
The ideal candidate needs:
+ 10+ years of professional experience in communications, content and editorial strategy, or publishing
+ Bachelor's degree in journalism, English or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training
+ 3-5+ years of managerial experience; strong leadership skills and the ability to clearly communicate ideas and influence plans across team members and leadership levels
+ Experience leading and developing content strategies with strong audience engagement; global audience experience preferred
+ Deep understanding of the evolving media and social media landscape; technical savviness
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
You will collaborate across multiple teams to create a channel-right strategy for communicating with NIKE, Inc. key audiences. As part of the One Publishing Team, you’re charged with telling our NIKE, Inc. corporate stories – inclusive of global employees and Nike executives – in the most compelling and inspirational ways possible.
Your role helps shape the future of storytelling at Nike, with a focus on engaging and inspiring employees – our biggest brand advocates – and other key audiences. You will accomplish this through:
+ Leading, developing and inspiring a team responsible for writing, publishing, editorial planning and more
+ Partnering closely with teammates who lead editorial focused on NIKE, Inc. brands (Nike, Jordan and Converse), along with teammates responsible for content creation and platform management, to create a cohesive team
+ Teaming up with the One Publishing’s creative group to create and curate multimedia assets for editorial pieces
+ Supporting the strategy and leading a teammate charged with crafting NIKE, Inc.’s presence on LinkedIn, inclusive of our leaders on the channel, and any future social channels
+ Analyzing and applying insights and metrics for Comms-owned channels to help guide our strategy and best practices
+ Building and evolving the editorial capabilities of the One Publishing Team to stay ahead of trends and technology advancements
