The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, a division of the University of Virginia located in Wise, Virginia, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Mathematics within the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. The position is a full-time, 9-month commitment at the assistant professor level with a start date of August 2026.
Duties include creating and teaching undergraduate courses in Mathematics at both the introductory and advanced undergraduate levels; serving the department and college on various committees; advising students; pursuing ongoing scholarly activity preferably in conjunction with undergraduate students; and assisting the department chair with assessment and other duties as needed.
Successful candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics; and should have the demonstrated ability for engaged and innovative teaching at the undergraduate level. Preference will be given to candidates who have teaching expertise in pure mathematics who articulate a clear understanding of UVA Wise’s public liberal arts mission.
