Job Title: Battery Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Vehicle Repair Technician for our Large Power Systems Division located in Lafayette, IN. The role involves mechanically and electrically troubleshooting and repairing a diverse range of vehicles, from bicycles to 50k ton fork trucks. This includes equipment such as rail car movers, spotter trucks, fork trucks, mobile cranes, man lifts, and trailers. Expertise in battery systems, including lead acid, lithium, and charging stations, is essential.

Responsibilities

+ Mechanically and electrically troubleshoot and repair various types of vehicles.

+ Perform diesel maintenance and forklift troubleshooting.

+ Diagnose and repair AC and DC servos.

+ Read and understand vehicle prints and schematics.

+ Conduct extensive hydraulic troubleshooting.

+ Perform preventive maintenance and blueprint reading.

+ Utilize tools for fabrication, vehicle diagnostics, and electrical work.

+ Communicate with fork trucks via computer systems.

+ Troubleshoot and repair components like diodes, capacitors, and electrical circuits.

Essential Skills

+ Experience in troubleshooting and repairing AC and DC servos.

+ Capability to communicate with fork trucks using computer systems.

+ Proficiency in reading and understanding vehicle prints and schematics.

+ Strong electrical skills with the ability to operate basic diagnostic tools.

+ Documented experience with Zapi, GE, or similar controls.

+ Hydraulics troubleshooting experience for cylinders, valves, and flow controls.

+ Tire press experience.

+ Diesel troubleshooting and repair experience.

+ Experience with heavy equipment and basic computer operations in Excel and web-based applications.

Work Environment

The position offers flexible shift options: 2nd shift (3:00pm – 11:00pm) Monday to Friday, and 3rd shift (11:00pm-7:00am) Sunday to Thursday. The work environment is clean and climate-controlled in most areas, ensuring a comfortable setting for all employees.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $36.00/hr.
