    The anticipated salary range for this role is between $196,000.00 and $237,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

    Role Description

    We are seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager / Tech Lead with 15+ years of experience to lead large-scale technology programs in an Agile environment within an investment banking environment. This role requires a strong technical foundation, proven leadership in delivering complex programs, and deep understanding of middle-office and back-office domain. The ideal candidate will have expertise in building scalable systems, multiple cloud technologies, data platforms, and a background in financial services domain.

    Role Objectives

    + Drive end-to-end delivery of large, multi-year technology programs impacting middle and back-office functions.

    + Align technology initiatives with business objectives and operational priorities.

    + Provide architectural guidance for scalable, resilient systems.

    + Manage the day-to-day operations of the technology team and ensure we adhere to firm and industry standards.

    + Ensure adoption of modern cloud-native solutions and data-driven architectures.

    + Oversee integration of distributed systems and enterprise platforms.

    + Partner with operations, business teams, and senior leadership to define requirements and success metrics.

    + Communicate program status, risks, and dependencies to executive stakeholders.

    + Mentor technical leads and program managers across multiple workstreams.

    + Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

    Qualifications and Skills

    + 15+ years in technology leadership roles, with at least 5 years in program management at Director level.

    + Proven track record of delivering large-scale programs in financial services, preferably investment banking.

    + Strong understanding of cloud platforms and microservices architecture.

    + Experience with data engineering, data governance, and analytics platforms.

    + Knowledge of distributed systems, API design, and event-driven architectures.

    + Familiarity with trade lifecycle, settlements, risk management, and regulatory reporting.

    + Exceptional ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage cross-functional teams.

    + Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

    + Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

    Additional Requirements

    SMBC’s employees participate in a Hybrid workforce model that provides employees with an opportunity to work from home, as well as, from an SMBC office.
