    JOB SUMMARY

    The Sports Facility Attendant & Trainee Coach is responsible for supporting daily facility operations, delivering excellent customer service, and ensuring a clean, safe, and professional training environment. This position will assist athletes, parents, and visitors with facility usage and equipment needs. Additionally, the role includes a development pathway to progress into a Coaching/Training Role, requiring a strong interest in athletic training, baseball/ softball fastpitch skills development, and positive athlete engagement.

    MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Open and close the facility according to operational guidelines.

    + Greet Customers, answer questions, and provide general support to athletes, families, and visitors.

    + Schedule cage rentals, lessons, and classes using the facility’s scheduling system.

    + Monitor facility activity to ensure safe and respectful use of equipment and space.

    + Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks. (e.g., sweeping turf, sanitizing equipment, organizing balls/bats.

    + Inspect equipment and facility areas regularly; report or address any repairs or safety concerns

    + Shadow coaches during lessons, camps and clinics to learn coaching methods.

    + Learn facility instructional methods, safety protocols, and athlete coaching standards.

    + Participate in ongoing training to gain knowledge of baseball mechanics, drills, and performance development.

    + Practice teaching and demonstrating basic drills, warm-ups, and skill development activities under supervision.

    + Gain working knowledge of biomechanics, hitting machines, pitching technique, and fielding fundamentals.

    + Assist with athlete supervision, engagement, and positive reinforcement.

    + Demonstrate a commitment to athlete growth, motivation, and positive sportsmanship.

    + Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

    EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

    Required:

    + High School Diploma or GED.

    + One (1) years of experience in customer service, Prior experience with baseball and/or fast pitch softball rules, including familiarity with:

    + Basic rules and field positioning

    + Standard training drills

    + Common equipment (balls, bats, tees, protective gear, pitching machines, etc.)

    Schedule:

    This position requires working evenings, weekends and special event hours.

    This position is designed to develop into an Assistant Training/Coach role upon demonstration of coaching competency, professionalism, and commitment to the programs’ training standards.

    SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION

    Skills:

    + Strong verbal communication skills for interacting with athletes, parents, and staff.

    + Customer service skills, including greeting, assisting, handling inquiries, and resolving concerns.

    + Organizational skills to maintain clean, orderly equipment and training areas.

    + Ability to demonstrate or learn correct athletic movements, drills, and training techniques.

    + Time management skills to balance customer support, facility cleanliness, and training responsibilities.

    + Basic computer or POS skills related to scheduling, payment processing, or facility systems.

    Ability:

    + Ability to engage positively and professionally with youth athletes and families.

    + Ability to learn and adopt consistent, safe coaching methods and training standards.

    + Ability to follow instructions and also work independently without direct supervision.

    + Ability to move freely in an active training environment and lift/move equipment (up to approx. 40 lbs).

    + Ability to remain proactive, observant, and attentive to facility conditions and safety needs.

    + Ability to develop and progress into a training/coaching role with guidance and coaching.

    Knowledge:

    + Knowledge of baseball and/or fast pitch softball rules, terminology, positions, and gameplay.

    + Understanding of standard training equipment (tees, balls, nets, pitching machines, protective gear, etc.).

    + Basic knowledge of facility safety practices and injury prevention.

    + Familiarity with customer service practices and front-facing service etiquette.

    + General understanding of cleaning standards and routine maintenance procedures.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    The working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this class.

     

    The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, balance, bend at the waist, crouch, kneel, twist, use foot controls, and operate a motor vehicle. The employee must frequently lift carry and/or push/pull up to twenty pounds (40 lbs.). The employee is frequently required to sit, talk, or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to grasp, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud. Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally may sit to perform administrative tasks.
