Position Overview
We are seeking to hire a Director of Day Treatment Clinical Services for six months to cover a leave of absence.
The Director of Day Treatment Clinical Services is responsible for the development and delivery of clinical services in the R&E May School Day Treatment Program and supervises the social workers and interns within the school, and provides clinical social work consultation services to other departments within the agency. The Director manages the development and implementation of assessment and treatment planning for each child and family served by the Day Treatment Programs, under the leadership and supervision of the Associate Executive Director, Clinical Services.
Requirements
+ Master’s Degree in Social Work
+ NYS LCSW licensure
+ Three years of supervisory level experience, preferably in a residential and/or special education setting
+ A current Clean and Valid New York State Driver’s License (actively licensed at least one year) required*
*Staff in driving positions must be able to meet the agency’s minimum requirements of our insurance policy for authorized drivers including, but not limited to, the minimum age of 21 at time of hire; with the ability to maintain insurability throughout employment .
Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
+ Assists the Associate Executive Director, Clinical Services in ensuring that the social work services are provided according to the regulations of the NYS Education Department, the NYS Office of Mental Health, and according to the policies and philosophy of St. Catherine’s Center for Children
+ Together with the Director of Day Treatment and the Supervisor of Behavior Support, oversees daily operations of the Day Treatment Program and continued professional development and support.
+ Supervises the R&E May School Day Treatment Program’s Social Work staff through individual and group supervision
+ Provides clinical consultation to agency social workers as assigned.
+ Provides consultation and technical assistance to social workers in diagnosis, treatment planning and ongoing delivery of services.
+ Oversees assignment and delivery of individual, group and family treatment services and case management services.
+ Works collaboratively with Human Resources and the Business Office to ensure compliance with policies and procedures required by these departments.
+ In conjunction with the Human Resources Recruiter, hires social work staff for the department.
+ Maintains agency personnel practices and standards for those in his/ her/ their charge, completing all required evaluations for supervisees.
+ In conjunction with the Associate Executive Director, Clinical Services and the Director of Training and Professional Development, ensures provision of orientation and ongoing training for social work staff and that staff participate as scheduled in all required trainings.
+ Under the supervision of the Associate Executive Director, Clinical Services maintains the social work program budget.
+ In collaboration with the Coordinator of Centralized Intake, participates in Day Treatment intakes and collaborates with the Coordinator to schedule timely admissions for students entering the Day Treatment.
+ Collaborates with the Coordinator of Centralized Intake to arrange timely and comprehensive admissions process that ensures residential and day treatment staff are informed of information necessary for initial assessment and treatment planning.
+ Arranges for assigned social worker to meet with child, family and referring agency on admission day and facilitate admission procedure.
+ Participates in weekly meetings of Day Treatment Placement Team, considering new admissions, the children’s transitions from one program to another, and continuum of care for least restrictive environment and/or return home to permanent family.
+ Ensures that assigned social work staff facilitate interdisciplinary treatment team meetings at initial (30 Day), quarterly, and other as needed intervals, for the children and families in the Day Treatment Department, according to the requirements of regulatory bodies and the policies and philosophy of St. Catherine’s Center for Children.
+ Ensures that assigned social work staff complete and document psycho-social assessments, and treatment plans developed by treatment teams at Treatment Planning Meetings, at initial (30 Day), quarterly, and other as needed intervals, for the children and families in the Day Treatment Department, according to the requirements of regulatory bodies and the policies and philosophy of St. Catherine’s Center for Children.
+ Ensures that treatment planning is focused on return to permanent home or to least restrictive setting as soon as possible, with provision of aftercare services when needed.
+ Actively engages parents in treatment planning and fosters partnership with parents in all Day Treatment operations.
+ Ensures that child, family members, referring agency, and other involved community members participate in the assessment and treatment planning process for each child/family served, collaborate in the development and implementation of the service plan, and that the needs and goals of all involved parties are addressed.
+ Collaborates with the R&E May School CSE Chair in the development and implementation of social work services as mandated in the IEP.
+ Ensures that social workers participate in the development and implementation of the FBA, BIP, ICSP, and Safety Plan, according to the requirements of regulatory bodies and the policies and philosophy of St. Catherine’s Center for Children.
+ Ensures that social work staff provide individual, group, family, and case management services for assigned children and families as required by the treatment plan, including mandated IEP services.
+ Ensures that social work staff develop and address discharge planning goals, including the process related to aftercare and arranging services in the community prior to discharge, complete the discharge summary, and send the summary to receiving treatment agency, according to the requirements of regulatory bodies and the policies and philosophy of St. Catherine’s Center for Children.
+ Ensures quality and compliance of progress notes, periodic assessments, treatment plans, AWARDS and IEP Direct data entry, and other paperwork required of staff as directed by agency policy and regulatory bodies.
+ Ensures social work staff work collaboratively with the psychiatric and psychological consultants assigned to the program, and residential treatment staff for children shared among the programs.
+ Ensures social work staff participate with the psychiatrist, parent, child, and treatment team staff in medication review meetings for assigned child/family.
+ Oversees implementation of Restorative Practice Model, Multi-Tier Systems of Support, and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention strategies.
+ Actively supports the goals of the agency and Day Treatment programs in preventing discipline problems and in teaching social skills.
+ Provides timely review and response for all incident reports involving social work staff, according to required agency and regulatory protocols/procedures.
+ Completes and submits NIMRS reports, as required by NYS OMH.
+ Ensures that required Post Crisis Response steps are conducted for youth, parents, and staff following critical incidents that involve social work staff.
+ Ensures active participation by social work staff in weekly meetings of the Classroom Team meetings.
+ Participates in monthly Quality Assurance and Critical Incident Review meetings with the Principal for Continuous Quality Improvement.
+ Additional position-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
