    Responsibilities and Duties

    + Able to set up, repair, adjust and troubleshoot production automation, industrial robotics equipment and interface devices.

    + Able to communicate and collaborate with maintenance and production to ensure timely line setup/change-over.

    + Manage and own specific groups of automated equipment ensuring world class production results.

    + Lead and develop skills of robotics and automation staff, assist in directing work and assignments.

    + Have a strong understanding of PLC driven control systems and be capable of interpreting ladder logic programs.

    + Have strong understanding of 3D modeling, capable of designing fixturing, automation, or jigs for manufacturing. Capable of modifying 3D models.

    + Troubleshoot and repair PLC’s and other electrical controls as needed.

    + Supervise and coordinate outside contractors to ensure that all upkeep, maintenance and repairs are completed in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

    + Ability to maintain and program variable frequency drives and motor protection relays.

    + Capable of putting together statement of work, timeline, and execution of projects.

    + Availability to work other shifts and weekends to support equipment operation and training programs.

    + Identify possible mechanical problems and report them to Maintenance or Production supervision personnel.

    + Perform preventative maintenance as required by company PM program for the robotics equipment.

    + Maintain good housekeeping and a safe work environment.

    + Participate in continuous process improvement to increase production efficiencies.

    + Participate in training and classes as directed.

    + All other duties as assigned. Ability to work in multiple plants on project-to-project basis.

    Qualifications and Skills

    + Completed Certification program & has significant automation experience. Ability to learn new software applications and interfaces quickly. CAD, 2D/3D design, PLC programming and other communications software.

    + Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical and other engineering / technical documents.

    + Ability to comprehend and follow written instructions.

    + Basic comprehension of the English language: reading and writing skills to understand and complete necessary paperwork.

    + Good mathematical aptitude.

    + Ability to organize priorities and workload.

    + Excellent spatial awareness.

    + Strong technical aptitude and understanding of basic electronics and mechanical concepts.

    + Experience with power tools such as band saws, drills, tap & die sets, etc.

    + Ability to do rapid prototyping of robot grippers and product/presentation fixturing using materials on hand or procured for the purpose of proving or testing an idea.

    + Ability to think and operate in a spirit of innovation and change.

    + Ability to abandon an idea that isn’t working and change directions quickly to try something new.
