Requirements
Summary:
Member of the Purchasing Team. Responsible for independently making effective decisions and managing the process related to the purchase of all spare parts and services required for maintenance, repair, and operational functions. This position is part of a fast-paced, team environment where the individual will be expected to be flexible and learn all aspects of the procurement process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Develops and executes supplier and commodity strategies to support plant procurement and manufacturing operations
+ Collaborates with internal customers to develop business requirements and improve processes.
+ Facilitates the procurement of indirect industrial materials, production materials, equipment, and services.
+ Reviews bids and negotiates contracts for best possible price, quality, and delivery date.
+ Processes material and service requisitions in a timely manner to prevent downtime and ensure un-interrupted supply.
+ Validates and verifies conformity to specifications of materials and services.
+ Discusses defective or unacceptable materials and service levels with internal customers, suppliers and others to determine root cause and corrective action.
+ Responsible for all commercial activities with suppliers such as negotiating and obtaining quality products at competitive pricing, availability and delivery.
+ Responsible for supplier selection, sourcing documentation, recommendations and issuing relevant purchasing documents.
+ Responsible for the maintenance of procurement records in accordance with corporate guidelines.
+ Resolves payment issues.
+ Monitors inventory levels in the maintenance stores center, adjusts reorder points, and reorders quantities as needed. Tracks and analyzes pattern in shaping decisions on reorder points and quantities.
+ Builds strong relationships with suppliers to gain confidence and trust in supply chain through positive communication by phone, email, and in person.
+ Communicates with other departmental supervisors, employees from other departments and supplier representatives.
+ May be required to cover duties of other members of the Purchasing Department.
Qualifications:
+ Knowledge of purchasing and supply chain practices, policies & procedures.
+ Experience coordinating various forms of purchased materials and supplies.
+ Ability to manage the process of finalizing supplier contracts.
+ Research & analytical skills.
+ Familiar with strategic sourcing concepts.
+ Financial analysis.
+ High attention to detail, negotiating skills and solid interpersonal skills.
+ Have knowledge of general business computer software and aptitude to learn new software applications. Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Excellent problem-solving skills, strong organizational skills.
+ Be willing to work off-shifts and weekends, if required.
+ Willing to travel when needed.
Special Demands:
+ Office work environment.
+ May experience high noise and industrial environments on a limited basis.
+ May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions on a limited basis.
Education / Training:
Desirable skills:
+ Some Purchasing experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment
+ Experience with Lean Manufacturing is highly desirable
+ Experience Freight/Logistics.
Preferred:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field.
Schedule:
Monday Through Friday 8:00-4:30 PM
