Position Description
TheIngram School of Engineering (https://www.engineering.txstate.edu/) of Texas State University has launched a newMechanical Engineering program (https://www.engineering.txstate.edu/programs/mechanical.html) that incorporates Industry 4.0 tools and technologies throughout the curriculum to prepare students who can design and develop mechanical and thermal systems that are intelligent, interconnected, and integrated with the virtual world and emerging digital infrastructures. Currently, the program seeks to fill a non-tenure Faculty of Instruction line at the Assistant or Associate level to begin Fall 2026. The successful candidate will be expected to exhibit a strong commitment to student-centered teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate level, participate in curriculum and program development, and perform university and professional service.

Required Qualifications
For the Assistant Professor of Instruction rank:
+ An earned Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, or a very closely related discipline.
+ Strong academic background in one of the following four areas: solid mechanics, thermal-fluids sciences, control systems and robotics, or engineering design and manufacturing.
+ Record of teaching experience as instructor of record in undergraduate engineering courses taught at an academic institution of higher education in the US.
+ Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication.
For the Associate Professor of Instruction rank:
+ An earned Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, or a very closely related discipline.
+ Strong academic background in one of the following four areas: solid mechanics, thermal-fluids sciences, control systems and robotics, or engineering design and manufacturing.
+ A minimum of five years of experience as a full-time faculty member teaching mechanical engineering courses at an academic institution of higher education in the US.
+ Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication.
+ Demonstrated excellence as a teacher in the classroom, laboratory, and supervising of students.
+ Demonstrated participation in academic service activities at the department, college, and university levels.
Preferred Qualifications
For the Assistant Professor of Instruction rank:
+ Expertise with Industry 4.0 tools and technologies.
+ Postdoctoral and/or industrial experience.
+ Experience mentoring undergraduate students in academic environments.
+ Knowledge of ABET accreditation procedures and deliverables.
For the Associate Professor of Instruction rank:
+ Expertise with Industry 4.0 tools and technologies.
+ Postdoctoral and/or industrial experience.
+ Knowledge of ABET accreditation procedures and deliverables.
+ Experience supervising capstone senior design projects.
+ Demonstrated experience obtaining external funding for STEM Education related projects.
+ Demonstrated experience developing educational materials such as formal lecture notes, case studies, and laboratory manuals.
