    Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunity: Headache & Orofacial Pain Research (H.O.P.E. Lab) University of Michigan Are you passionate about unraveling the mysteries of chronic pain? Are you ready to drive innovations at the intersection of AI, neuroimaging, neuromodulation, and health technologies? The Headache and Orofacial Pain Effort (H.O.P.E.) Lab at the University of Michigan invites dynamic and motivated applicants for a postdoctoral research position. This is a unique opportunity to join a vibrant, multidisciplinary team exploring breakthroughs in temporomandibular disorders (TMD), migraine, and fibromyalgia through NIH-funded programs.

    Responsibilities*

    Lead and contribute to innovative research studies focused on the central mechanisms of chronic pain.

     

    Design, analyze, and publish research using multimodal imaging (PET, MRI, fNIRS, EEG) and GenAI/based analytics.

     

    Implement and refine novel neuromodulatory protocols for translational research.

     

    Mentor students, collaborate across disciplines, and present findings at conferences and in high-impact publications.

    Required Qualifications*

    PhD (or equivalent degree) in neuroscience, data science, biomedical engineering, computational neuroscience, psychology, or a related field.

     

    Hands-on experience and high proficiency with neuroimaging analysis software (e.g., SPM, FSL, AFNI), and demonstrated expertise in AI/data science applications.

     

    Previous publications utilizing neuroimaging methodology.

     

    Interest or experience in neuromodulation approaches and willingness to learn novel protocols.

     

    Strong independent work ethic, creativity, and a collaborative mindset.
