General Summary
Under the direction of the Associate Dean - Medical School Campus/Chief Academic Officer - Medical School Campus, the Admissions Coordinator will function within the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine at WellSpan Health. The Admissions Coordinator will assist the campus Associate Dean, and the local Admissions Sub-Committee in receiving, screening, reviewing, and prepping student applications to the Medical School Campus, arranging the interview process, and determining rankings and preferred candidate lists for submission to the overarching Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine Admissions Committee for final review/approval. This is a WellSpan Health role primarily functioning to support the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine at WellSpan Health campus and students.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
+ Serve as the primary administrative contact for students, undergraduate student applicants, and Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM) Admissions Committee staff and other school leadership.
+ Nurture and foster relationships with the Temple University Admissions team.
+ Build and nurture relationships with students/applicants, regional/other undergraduate schools, and Medical School Campus staff.
+ Work with the Associate Dean and Assistant Dean-Education to schedule interviews for admissions.
+ Implement all admissions strategies to reach goals, working closely with the Associate Dean and Assistant Dean-Education.
+ Coordinate admissions marketing with the Associate Dean, and the Temple LKSOM and WellSpan Communications and Marketing teams.
+ Ensure that faculty, student, and community member interviewers follow all guidelines of the Temple University admissions team, and the direction of the Associate Dean for Admissions.
+ Ensure that all interviewers complete and submit applicant evaluation forms in a timely manner.
+ Organize, file, and maintain all confidential admissions materials, applications, and other communications.
+ Coordinate and conduct applicant recruitment activities aimed at undergraduate colleges and universities that represent "feeder schools" to the Temple LKSOM, the Temple LKSOM at WellSpan campus, and WellSpan Health.
+ Collaborate with the Associate Dean and campus leadership team on new student orientation.
Common Expectations:
+ Support school committees as requested, including, but not limited to, the Admissions Committee, and any other committees as needed.
+ Prepare reports as requested by the Associate Dean or other campus leaders.
Travel Requirements:
+ Estimated Amount: 5% - Periodic single-day travel to the main campus of the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and/or the Temple/St. Luke's Regional Medical Campus in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania may be required for several days each year. Overnight travel to regional and/or national Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and/or other similar conferences related to Medical Education and Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accreditation processes and requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
+ Bachelors Degree In Education, Human Resources, or a field deemed relevant to Medical Education Required
+ Masters Degree Preferred
Work Experience:
+ Prior experience in a college, university, or medical school campus related to admissions processing, applications, interviews, and class position offers. Preferred
Courses and Training:
+ Receives a faculty appointment, at the appropriate rank, at the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine. within 120 days Required and
+ Completes appropriate faculty development activities, courses, seminars, and/or other sessions, as required to maintain faculty appointment at the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine. within 1 year Required and
+ Annually renew appropriate faculty development activities, courses, seminars, and/or other sessions, as required to maintain faculty appointment at the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine. Required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Current foundational skills and information related to medical school admissions, pre-medical and pre-health advising and planning, the Medical College Admissions Test, and basic financial aid knowledge.
+ Develop, lead, and implement the Admissions process at the WellSpan campus. Organizational skills and knowledge to navigate the admissions, interview, and acceptance processes at the WellSpan campus.
