Job Title: Fixture Design Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a Fixture Design Engineer to join our Test Engineering team on a contract-to-hire basis. In this role, you will collaborate closely with mechanical design and structural analysis teams to develop vibration fixtures suitable for shock and vibration testing. Your primary task will be to create stiff, light, and manufacturable structures to connect hardware to vibration excitation equipment, including large hydraulic shakers. You will also perform initial modal analysis to ensure the suitability of the fixtures. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and contribute directly to innovative technology.
Responsibilities
+ Collaborate with test staff and mechanical design and structural analysis groups to understand fixturing needs.
+ Develop manufacturable fixturing designs in Solidworks, focusing on vibration-test specific requirements.
+ Learn and apply best practices in CAD software.
+ Conduct initial modal analysis on designs to ensure rigidity across the frequency bandwidth.
+ Oversee the production of fixturing, managing quotes and procurement timelines.
+ Troubleshoot fixture fitment issues with design and test engineers.
+ Incorporate lessons learned from past tests into new designs.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in mechanical design and fixture design.
+ Expertise in Solidworks and CAD software.
+ Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and FEA.
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
+ Experience in designing mechanical fixturing with an understanding of tolerancing.
+ Ability to manage production timelines and collaborate with external machine shops.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
+ Proactive in gathering stakeholder input for projects.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Berkeley, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $80.00/hr.
