    Role Overview:

    The Assistant Director for Strategic Workforce Planning supports the agency across all workforce programs, current and emerging, including hiring, recruitment, retention, and support for internship programs. You will work within the agency personnel infrastructure to partner with staff on the logistics, planning, coordination, management, and review of employees working within the central office and all field locations. This role is essential to the management and execution of the programs incorporated under the workforce umbrella.

    Salary:

    The salary for this position traditionally starts at $75,010 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

    A Day in the Life:

    The Assistant Director for Strategic Workforce Planning will be a seasoned professional responsible for:

    + Consolidating and coordinating needs of central office and field statewide toward standardized employee experiences.

    + Developing, interpreting, and explaining program guidelines and goals to the Indiana State Personnel Department, executives, and other internal stakeholders.

    + Collecting, analyzing, and presenting data and information associated with workforce experience to talent acquisition goals, employee development, and retention.

    + Identifying meaningful need opportunities for supporting regular staffing with intern/externships.

    + Building and maintaining relationships with relevant academic programs throughout the State of Indiana and in Indianapolis.

    + Analyzing and making recommendations on the use of budgeted funds to support workforce programs.

    + Developing, revising, and implementing success measures, metrics, and goals for executive agency leadership.

    + Interviewing, hiring, and supporting oversight of workforce practices and plans.

    + Soliciting and managing third-party workforce surveys.

    + Overseeing the Governor’s Summer Interns, as needed.

    + Supporting executive officers with university relations and recruitment of promising undergraduate and graduate students.

    + Assisting the Chief Administrative Officer with ongoing efforts to improve employee onboarding, talent development, and employee retention initiatives.

    This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours that may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

    + Extensive knowledge of State programs and resources, public policy, and program evaluation.

    + Ability to develop and/or measure program outcomes.

    + Ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with key public and private government and business leaders.

    + Ability to identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and to make recommendations.

    + Ability to work with internal and external customers to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.

    + Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, establish credibility, and influence leaders at all levels.

    + Make logical, well-informed, and objective decisions. Ability to perceive the impact and implications of decisions.

    + Ability to identify problems. Determine accuracy and relevance of information. Implement sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and to make recommendations.

    + Ability to assign work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.

    + Ability to effectively provide feedback, guidance or corrective action to coach and develop employee skillsets.

    + Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

    Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

    This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
