Overview

Assisting After-School children with various, social, and inter-personal skills

Responsibilities

+ Assist other staff members in the pick-up of children from the local public schools and accompanying them back to the Center

+ Review children’s homework assignments and assist them in completing them correctly

+ Keep accurate records of children’s assignments and progress

+ Inform Director of any concerns (social, academic, etc.) of the students

+ Provide tutoring to students when necessary

+ Assist and/or organize games, crafts, and other recreational activities

+ Supervise children to and from park, playground, field trips, etc.

+ Keep accurate records/tracking slips, attendance, lunch counts, etc.

+ Maintain proper staff to student ratio at all times

+ All other duties as directed by Corps Officer and/or Director

Qualifications

+ At least a Junior or Senior in High School with an outstanding academic report

+ Maintain an “A” or “B” average in his/her own academic reports

+ Be able to walk to and from schools (in assisting with school pick-ups)

+ Be able to work outdoors for recreational activities

+ Be flexible to assist the Director and/or other staff in any necessary tasks

+ Must understand and appreciate the mission of The Salvation Army.
