    Description

    Under the direct supervision of a Primary Intern Supervisor and existing leadership within the Behavioral Health Department, the Undergraduate Student Intern provides psychosocial support and case management services to clients of the primary care clinic, 16 hours per week for the academic school year from September 8th, 2026 through May 15th, 2027, exact dates depending. Additional hours for onboarding and orientation will be required between the dates of August 31st and September 4th, 2026.

    Representative Duties:

    Supports provision of case management services to clients:

    + Support team of Community Health Workers by consolidating and verifying resources list, coordinating scheduling/outreach with clients, and receiving/organizing donations

    + Obtain a working knowledge of social determinants of health (SDOH) screeners and administer screeners to patients

    + Accompany staff to community locations, such as food banks, drop-in centers, shelters, hospitals, home visits to clients, meetings with community partners, etc. to support efforts of the team to provide outreach/assessment/referral services to patients

    + Assist patients with applications for housing, disability, transportation, etc.

    + Provide health education to clients newly diagnosed with chronic or complex diseases, including HIV

    + All hours must be provided on-site at 1340 Boylston St., unless accompanying staff off-site to support members in the community

    + Adhere to NASW Code of Ethics

    Participate in Intern Programming:

    + Participate in regularly scheduled individual supervision, 1 hour per week

    + Attend and contribute to Intern Group Supervision Meeting, 1 hour per week

    + Participate in cross-training and job shadowing activities outside of CHW team, 1 hour per week

    + Attend Pod-Based Multidisciplinary team meetings, 1 hour per week

    + Attend CHW team meetings, 1 hour every other week

    + Participate in BH Intern Training Seminars, when topic is determined by training team to be applicable/indicated

    + Adheres to all agency and departmental policies and procedures as appropriate, including but not limited to the following, as not doing so would result in termination of internship:

    + Attendance and Punctuality

    + Occupational Health Guidelines

    + Participates in quality assessment and improvement activities as requested

    + Adheres to the highest principles of patient and client confidentiality

    + Adheres to established safety policies, procedures and precautions; identifies potential or actual unsafe situations in the environment and takes measures to rectify the situation

    + Attends all required meetings, in-services and professional trainings

    + Attends all regularly scheduled research meetings, trainings, forums and pertinent FCH staff meetings

    + Maintains professional competence necessary to perform job responsibilities; maintains and provides agency with records of continuing education activities

     

    Performs other related duties as required

    Requirements

    + Active enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in related field (e.g. Social Work, Human Services or Psychology) required

    + Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to multitask

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    + Experience working within an ethnically, culturally, and racially diverse team

    + Ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals required

    + Ability to demonstrate emotional regulation of self, foresee impacts of emotional expressions on others (peers, colleagues, and patients), and modulate emotional expression accordingly to support rapport building and professionalism in shared workspaces

    + Ability to receive, process and respond to feedback in both individual and group supervision spaces

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Ability to document timely and accurately in fast-paced environments

    + Case management or human services related experience

    + Previous medical clinical experience

    + Experience with LGBTQIA+ and/or HIV+ populations

    Physical Requirements:

    + Ability to meet the following physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations:

    + Sit at a computer station for extended periods of time

    + Ability to keyboard for extended periods of time
