    Job Summary

    Langan is seeking a Project Biologist, Scientist, or Engineer to join its collaborative team in Bethlehem, PA. This individual will play a key role in leading and supporting wetland and watercourse delineations, threatened and endangered species surveys, and project management, with a primary focus on state and federal natural-resource permitting. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with teams throughout the Mid-Atlantic region as part of a rapidly growing practice.

    Job Responsibilities

    + Develop permit application packages, reports, and perform QA/QC reviews for local agencies, PADEP, USFWS, and USACE;

    + Evaluate and establish permit strategy;

    + Support fieldwork including but not limited to, wetland and stream delineations, biological resources and habitat suitability assessments, plant and animal species inventories, supporting jurisdictional determinations, resource constraints analyses, and tree surveys;

    + Support and inform wetland and stream mitigation;

    + Research regional specific natural resources, survey requirements, threatened and endangered species considerations, permitting and reporting needs;

    + Research and summarize regulatory considerations in the region;

    + Coordinate with multi-discipline teams to evaluate design and permitting considerations;

    + Travel to job sites as required and appropriate;

    + Maintain schedule, timeliness, and attention to detail as top priorities, and;

    + Complete other duties as requested.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor of Science degree in biology, engineering, wildlife, botany, ecology, environmental science or a closely related field;

    + Work from the Bethlehem office (3 days per week) to support training and mentoring of staff (subject to Langan flexible work policies and workload);

    + 10+ years of related experience working in Pennsylvania and/or the Mid-Atlantic region;

    + Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively;

    + Excellent analytical and judgement capabilities;

    + Field experience with ability to travel to job sites in remote locations;

    + Ability to work during evenings and/or weekends if needed;

    + Ability to travel to various job sites and spend most, if not all, of the work day on-site;

    + Meet with clients, as required;

    + Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing and reliable transportation to visit job sites as needed;

    + Experience working with local, state and federal regulations;

    + Experience working with federal and state protected species;

    + Experience using GPS units in the field (use of Field Maps, Survey123);

    + Working knowledge of computers (including Word, Excel, Powerpoint) required;

    + Ability to travel and work extended hours including overnight stays (if required);

    + Valid 40-hour HAZWOPER training certification is also desirable; and,

    + Local candidates preferred.
