• Staff Accountant - Healthcare

    Description

    A well-established medical device and healthcare services company in Carlsbad is seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to support core accounting functions across multiple departments. This role is critical to ensuring financial accuracy in a highly regulated environment and will work closely with operations, payroll, clinical services, and the revenue cycle team.

    • Key Responsibilities

     

    Month-End Close

     

    + Perform journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly financial schedules.

    + Maintain and update accrual schedules for medical supplies, consumables, lab services, and outsourced clinical support.

    + Support depreciation schedules, prepaid amortization, and intercompany reconciliations.

     

    General Ledger & Reporting

     

    + Analyze GL activity for healthcare-specific transactions such as patient services, reimbursements, medical vendor contracts, and device inventory.

    + Assist in preparing internal financial statements, expense variance analysis, and cost center reporting.

    + Support external auditors with schedules and documentation.

     

    Operational Integration

     

    + Reconcile transactions between clinical software systems and the accounting platform.

    + Work with the billing and RCM team to ensure proper revenue recognition and cash application.

    + Review credit card transactions for medical supply purchases and reconcile statements.

    Requirements

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business

    + 2–5 years progressive accounting experience

    + Experience in healthcare, biotech, medical device, or similar regulated environment preferred

    + Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, nested formulas)

    + Experience with NetSuite, QuickBooks Enterprise, SAP, or Sage Intacct

    + Excellent analytical skills and ability to work cross-functionally

    + Knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting processes
