UPMC in Central PA is seeking a team-oriented Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacist Specialist to join our Infectious Diseases and Antimicrobial Stewardship team. This position is one of two dedicated pharmacists who share responsibility for antimicrobial stewardship across seven UPMC Central PA hospitals, as well as patient care rounding with the Infectious Diseases Consult Service at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital. This pharmacist will collaborate with and receive support from UPMC's systemwide Antimicrobial Stewardship leadership and stewardship pharmacist network, leveraging system resources to implement and sustain stewardship best practices locally.
Clinical Pharmacist Specialists ensure safe, effective, and efficient medication management for specialized patient populations. They provide direct patient-centered care, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and integrate pharmacy services into clinical practice. These specialists lead therapeutic programs, optimize medication-use systems, and advance pharmacy practice through research, education, and quality initiatives.
Eligible candidates will be offered a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 based on their years of experience!
Key Responsibilities:
+ Lead daily antimicrobial stewardship activities through prospective audit, intervention, and prescriber feedback
+ Engage in patient care rounds with the Harrisburg Infectious Diseases Teaching Service to provide expert clinical guidance
+ Champion comprehensive, multidisciplinary care of people living with HIV at our local clinic
+ Serve as a preceptor in infectious diseases for PGY-1 pharmacy residents and pharmacy students
+ Design, implement, and assess research projects aimed at advancing antimicrobial stewardship practices
+ Collaborate with infectious diseases pharmacists across the health system to strengthen stewardship strategies and optimize patient outcomes
+ Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy
+ B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree; PharmD preferred.
+ Required: Current licensure as a Pharmacist in practicing state
+ Completion of ASHP accredited PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency OR PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency plus 3 years clinical pharmacy experience in a specialized area OR 6 years clinical pharmacy experience in a specialized area.
+ Specialized knowledge and expertise in advanced pharmacy practice and service, comprehensive medication management, and evidence-based medicine in specialized area appropriate for clinical assignments
+ BPS Board Certification preferred**Currently BPS recognizes fourteen specialties: ambulatory care pharmacy, cardiology pharmacy, compounded sterile preparations pharmacy, critical care pharmacy, emergency medicine pharmacy, geriatric pharmacy, infectious diseases pharmacy, nuclear pharmacy, nutrition support pharmacy, oncology pharmacy, pediatric pharmacy, pharmacotherapy, psychiatric pharmacy and solid organ transplantation pharmacyLicensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
