    Saint-Gobain (Stephenville, TX)


    The Machinist III will operate all machine shop equipment, keeping abreast of new technical equipment, to provide support for production equipment with minimal supervision.- Provide training as needed, in all phases of machine shop functions.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    1. Machine parts from engineering blueprints, using metallurgy knowledge.

    2. Program Computerized Numerical Control equipment to produce parts on new equipment for equipment vendor and updated engineering prints.

    3. Assist Engineers and Maintenance personnel with design of specific parts to minimize machining costs and optimize performance.

    4. Perform incoming inspections and machined parts and dies, communicating deficiencies to purchasing, engineering, and the vendor.

    5. Make required repairs when cost or schedule dictates.

    6. Maintain and repair Disc Roll dies and Bernal connecting dies.

    7. Operate all machine shop equipment.

    8. Order specific material stock to fabricate parts using precision measuring devices as required such as, dial indicators, calipers, I.D./O.D., snap gauges, height gauges, and pi tapes.

    9. Operate machinery requiring precision grinding.

    10. Operate machinery requiring vertical mill and lathe work to replace spare parts for Store Services.

    11. Request required repair parts as necessary.

    12. Expand technical knowledge and capabilities to include new technical equipment as required.

    13. Inform supervision on any problem areas or special requirements.

    14. Perform maintenance activities and repairs to hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic components production equipment with minimal supervision.

    15. Observe and follow safety rules, housekeeping, and federal, state, and local regulations at all times and bring all non-compliance to the supervisor’s attention.

    16. Must utilize all required personal protective equipment.

    17. Perform special assignments or projects as directed by supervision.

    18. All other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

    1. Two-year apprenticeship plus five or more years of machinist work in an industrial environment required.

    2. Possess a working knowledge of math concepts including fractions, decimals, and algebraic formulas.

    3. Ability to read and interpret work orders.

    4. Ability to demonstrate oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

    5. Ability to work in a team-oriented work group.

    6. Ability to operate standard machine shop equipment, including lathes and vertical mills, with precision

    7. Ability to machine component parts without drawings.

    8. Expand technical knowledge as required on new equipment through outside training.
