    Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

    Job Description

    As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our manufacturing capabilities by maintaining an awareness of leading-edge technology trends and automation capabilities. You will assist the leadership team in developing future technology and automation roadmaps, identify and evaluate new manufacturing technologies, and define and design tooling and fixture opportunities. Your role will involve maintaining open communication with line and staff members to monitor and report progress of key initiatives, presenting opportunities, analysis, observations, and recommendations to leadership, and contributing to strategic and operational decisions involving process redesigns, equipment modifications, and tooling changes. You will also support the integration, implementation, and shop-floor interfaces of multiple Manufacturing & Enterprise software systems and develop efficient shop floor layouts based on quantifiable data.

    Responsibilities

    + Maintain awareness of leading-edge technology trends and automation capabilities.

    + Assist leadership in developing future technology and automation roadmaps.

    + Identify and evaluate new manufacturing technologies for company-wide implementation.

    + Define and design tooling and fixture opportunities.

    + Maintain open lines of communication with line and staff members to monitor and report progress of key initiatives.

    + Present opportunities, analysis, observations, and recommendations to leadership.

    + Contribute to strategic and operational decisions involving process redesigns, equipment modifications, and tooling changes.

    + Support the integration, implementation, and shop-floor interfaces of multiple Manufacturing & Enterprise software systems.

    + Develop and validate models of various manufacturing processes to improve efficiency.

    + Develop efficient shop floor layouts based on quantifiable data with input from various stakeholders.

    Essential Skills

    + 3+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience.

    + Expertise in process improvements, forming equipment setup, cycle optimization, and troubleshooting defects such as web thinning, warping, and incomplete forming.

    + Familiarity with G-codes, 2D/3D programs, Plasma Tables, Water jets, 3-axis, Robotics, Automation, and machine operations.

    + Proficiency in Smartsheet/Excel for data collection and quality layout review.

    + Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering (Technology), Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Experience in a high volume production shop, handling 1000 parts a month with various SKUs.

    + Experience in manufacturing space.

    + Strong understanding of thermoforming, vacuum forming, and compression molding processes, including material behavior, mold design principles, temperature and pressure control, and tooling optimization.

    + Proficiency in process validation and tooling design for plastic components.

    + Working knowledge of sheet heating profiles, plug-assist design, vacuum and pressure distribution, and trimming operations.

    + Familiarity with material processing within compression molding environments.

    + Ability to develop process documentation, PFMEAs, and control plans.

    + Experience implementing automation and robotics in forming and molding cells.

    Work Environment

    The candidate will be equipped with a company computer with various programs needed to execute the job. Work hours are flexible, with core hours from 9AM to 5PM. The candidate will receive a per diem for daily expenses Monday through Friday.

    This is a Contract position based out of Tomball, TX.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
