Entry-Level Substation Drafter
This Opportunity
POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is currently initiating a search for an Entry-Level Substation Drafter for our Fort Worth, Texas office. Be involved in projects with our Power Delivery Substation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients’ objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
• The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions.
• The position entails drafting and design opportunities on substation projects that include physical and civil layout drawings as well as schematics and wiring diagrams.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for learning, understanding, and implementing CAD knowledge; learning client standards, practices, and procedures to ensure that work produced conforms to the client's standards and expectations; being responsible for knowing and following POWER's standards, procedures, and processes; collaborating on design issues; and seeking guidance from those with more experience
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Associates/technical degree in an accredited drafting program, or sufficient industry experience
• 0-1 years of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation experience
• Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with other team members
• Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
• Drafting experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, preferably in an engineering work environment
• Experience with a 3D CAD system
• Knowledge of substation electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, and/or substation physical/civil drawings
• Experience working with scaled drawings
• Working knowledge of survey coordinate systems a plus
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Experience with File Management Systems a plus
• Strong background in mathematics
• Reliable, detail-oriented self-starter who takes ownership of assigned tasks

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $49,920 - $62,400
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
