    Position Title:Motor Vehicle Operator II

     

    Job Group:Merit

     

    Required Minimum Qualifications:• One year experience driving trucks. • Possession of the class (class A, B, C or D) of drivers license appropriate to vehicle driven and/or materials transported.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:Delivery experience; specifically, within package and freight delivery

     

    Warehouse receiving experience

     

    Experience using electronic devices, such as smart phones, tablets, and computers

     

    Experience using forklifts and electric pallet jacks

    Job Description:

    Step into a role that keeps the Iowa State University campus running smoothly every day as a Motor Vehicle Operator II . Central Receiving serves as the single-point delivery network for campus, and this position plays a key part in moving materials quickly, safely, and accurately. With a steady Monday–Friday schedule and excellent university benefits, it’s an opportunity for someone who enjoys active work and a clear daily rhythm.

     

    About the Unit

     

    Central Receiving supports departments across campus by receiving, tracking, and redistributing university-funded materials. The team works in a fast-paced warehouse environment where communication, timing, and safe handling practices matter. This role offers consistent hours, a supportive team, and work that stays highly active throughout the day.

    What You’ll Do

    + Complete daily delivery routes across campus with packages, palletized goods, and equipment

    + Load, unload, and move materials using safe handling techniques and warehouse equipment

    + Review delivery orders and plan efficient routes based on needs and priorities

    + Provide responsive service to campus departments during pickups and deliveries

    + Support warehouse operations when not on the road

    + Maintain vehicles through routine cleaning, refueling, and basic checks

    + Assist the team during weather-related or emergency service needs
