We are seeking a Construction Materials Technician to provide critical materials testing and observation services on projects involving roadways, bridges, airports, large commercial developments, and remediation. You will perform field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. This role involves documenting findings, performing basic data analysis, and communicating results to the Project Manager.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials.
+ Document findings and results clearly and accurately.
+ Analyze data to verify accuracy before submitting to the Project Manager.
+ Communicate information to the Project Manager and other personnel as directed.
+ Train lower-level technicians based on experience level.
+ Maintain equipment and ensure calibration.
Essential Skills
+ At least 1-2 years of relevant field experience in construction.
+ Experience with concrete testing, materials testing, and soil testing.
+ Ability to use a nuclear density gauge and handle construction materials.
+ Proficiency with laptop computers, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
+ Possession of a valid driver's license.
+ Strong communication skills and a proactive personality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Desire to stay in the field.
+ Willingness to obtain OSHA 10 and 40 certifications.
+ A strong personality and quality assurance skills.
+ ACI certification and experience with Troxler equipment.
+ Ability to read and understand geotechnical reports.
+ Experience with dispatch and scheduling of technicians to project sites.
+ Adherence to strict safety standards.
Work Environment
This role is field-based, working alongside a team of 8 technicians. It involves driving vehicles such as a Ford F-150 or equivalent. The company offers opportunities for advancement into geotechnical and environmental engineering careers, with a leadership-focused program that provides training under the Field Supervisor/Project Manager. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Buffalo, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
