    Job Title: Civil Project Engineer

    Job Description

    The Project Engineer is responsible for executing engineering and CAD tasks across a diverse range of projects. These projects include site layouts, grading plans, utility systems, stormwater management, soil erosion, sedimentation control plans, and street improvements for residential, office, retail, restaurant, infrastructure, and renewable energy sectors. Additionally, the role involves handling grant and loan applications, conducting rate studies, managing construction administration, ensuring compliance with traffic control and various regulations, and maintaining strong public relations and communication.

    Responsibilities

    + Communicate with private and public agencies.

    + Assist in preparing reports using Microsoft Office or similar software.

    + Prepare permit applications for federal, state, and local agencies.

    + Contribute to the preparation of capital improvement plans.

    + Assist with estimating construction quantities.

    + Prepare bid documents for various agency projects.

    + Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors on project tasks.

    + Develop project specifications and standard details.

    + Perform field inspections of existing infrastructure.

    + Manage the application approval process, ensuring completeness of information.

    + Lead small to mid-sized projects, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.

    + Create and modify drawings using CAD software.

    + Organize project-related documents and applications.

    + Exercise judgment in engineering alternatives while adhering to standards.

    + Maintain high standards of client communication.

    + Achieve performance objectives and financial metrics.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.

    + EIT or PE license preferred.

    + 0-4 years of relevant experience.

    + Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software.

    + Ability to travel up to 25% in urban and remote areas.

    + Valid driver’s license for travel to client and project sites.

    + Excellent communication, presentation, and concentration skills.

    + Ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams.

    + Resourceful, creative, and analytical thinker.

    + Strong planning, organization, and execution skills.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Experience in land development, drainage, grading, and site planning.

    + Capability to work independently under guidance.

    + Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

    Work Environment

    This role primarily involves office work, with some field site visits. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with flexible hours totaling 40-50 hours per week. The position allows for three days in-office and two days working remotely.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plymouth, MI.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $40.00/hr.
