    Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

     

    The Patient Assistance Program (PAP) Supervisor is responsible for the successes of multiple assigned market PAP Financial Navigator teams and services. The PAP Supervisor operates under the leadership of the PAP Manager to ensure alignment of operations within the market to the strategic decisions and initiatives established by system level leadership. This leader partners with local stakeholders to achieve operational excellence, efficiency, and maximum financial benefit for the patient and ministry through grant funding and pharmaceutical manufacturer sponsored assistance programs. All responsibilities are accomplished in collaboration with the pharmacy leadership team under the direction of the Vice President of Ambulatory Pharmacy.

    Essential Job Functions

    + Responsible for operational and financial performance of the program within assigned markets. This person will lead market based teams of PAP Financial Navigators who review patient referrals through standardized workflow for assistance opportunities and work to standardize and expand PAP services within their market, optimize operations, and drive financial performance. The Patient Assistance Program (PAP) Supervisor will work collaboratively with local and system leadership to operationalize initiatives.

    + Monitors ongoing team performance, making changes where necessary to meet and exceed budget expectations.

    + Performs regular audits of PAP Financial Navigators workflow and processes to ensure regulatory compliance standards.

    + Assists with developing and implementing standard operating procedures and policies regarding PAP Financial Navigation processes and workflows.

    + Assists with budget planning process to account for drug replacement and co-pay assistance impacts.

    + Develops partnerships with and leads formal and informal training for physicians, clinical staff, and support staff on patient assistance programs (free drug procurement, copay assistance)

    + Assists with internal/external audits and internal/external compliance assessments.

    + Maintain knowledge of community services and resources available to patients.

    + Collaborates with leadership to ensure awareness of developments in the pharmaceutical and insurance industries to ensure that all policies and procedures reflect compliance with governmental regulations and legal requirements.

    + Perform functions of the Financial Navigator as determined by the PAP Manager.

    Education

    High School Diploma/GED (required)

     

    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Healthcare Administration (preferred)

    Work Experience

    3 years’ experience in healthcare financial analysis and revenue cycle functions (required)

    2 years’ work experience as a financial biller in a healthcare setting, social worker and/or pharmacy operations (required)

    2 years’ experience with EPIC functionality (preferred)

    2 years’ experience in social work of specialized patient population (oncology, hepatology, neurology, etc.) (preferred)

     

    Prior experience with management of patient assistance program (preferred)

     

    Prior management experience (preferred)
