    As a Mammography Technologist at Ellis, you will perform Mammograms, localization procedures, etc., on patients. Perform quality control functions for the mammography section according to MQSA standards. Maintain accurate and complete records on radiologists, technologists, and patients concerning mammography according to MQSA standards.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

    + Perform Mammogram Examinations as per Radiologist protocol.

    + Patient Education; Provide for patient comfort / cooperation w/equipment and procedure-stress importance of compression – provide general psychological support.

    + Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment is utilized when performing a task or responsibility associated with this position, which represents a potential occupational risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Appropriate PPEs shall include but not be limited to gloves, gown, goggles, laboratory coat, face shields or masks.

    + The staff member demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational and safety-related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned service area. The skills and knowledge needed

    + Works directly with Radiologists and other providers to maintain an effective and positive working relationship.

    + Performs necessary quality control and maintenance on equipment according to MQSA requirements. This includes awareness of our process for calling in a service call on equipment.

    + Ability to review prior breast/radiology images and/or reports and correlate relevant findings with current study.

    + Identifies patients and follows time-out procedure per established department guidelines

    + Adheres to infection control policy

    + Understanding of patient positioning, machine controls and anatomical factors and how they relate from image quality to optimal quality images

    + Effectively and accurately relays patient history or current complaints to the interpreting Radiologist, assists in final diagnosis/recommendations.

    + Ensures exams are verified and completed for charging on PACS/RIS systems

    + Maintain New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), American College of Radiology (ACR), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and Joint Commission (TJC) standards

    + Complete and update all employment requirements, including all required continuing education courses, continuing experience requirements, Employee Health, Radiology competencies, and credentials

    + Performs all functions of the modality within the scope of licensing requirements

    + Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues

    + Secretarial and organizational skills are necessary

    + Good written and verbal communication skills are required.

    + Computer knowledge required

    + Always follow HIPAA

    + Other duties as required

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology school with current ARRT registry and possessing a current New York State license of Radiologic Technology.

     

    + Must possess A.R.R.T. (M) registry or be registry eligible.

    + Must meet the initial mammography qualifications according to MQSA requirements.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    The position is located indoors under normal working conditions. Should be able to push/pull 300 lb., lift/move 25 lb. from floor to table, be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to sit at a computer terminal or workstation for a prolonged period, in addition to being able to squat, stand and walk for a long period of time and distance. Sensory requirements include the ability to articulate and comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to read the English language.

    Salary Range: $31.50-47.26/hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
