    About Summer Internships:

    The summer internship program allows participants to work with state agency officials and participate in co-curricular components to enrich their experiences. Interns spend at least 50 percent of their time on predetermined projects that enhance college-level skills and abilities. The co-curricular components of the program ensure competitive, reputable, and inclusive experiential learning. Interns participate in cohort weekly activities designed to enable:

     

    + Professional growth and preparedness for the workforce upon graduation

    + Exposure to many facets of state government

    + Networking and camaraderie development among the cohort

    About the BMV Project Management Internship:

    The BMV Project Management Intern will work in the Information Technology Department to support a variety of projects that will improve the BMV’s systems and, more importantly, provide Hoosiers with more efficient services through product innovation. Along with supporting on-going projects, there may be an opportunity for the intern to take on a project of his or her own, depending on the internship duration. Being a part of the Project Management Office will allow the intern to work closely with not only Information Technology, but they will have the opportunity to engage with and learn more about other BMV departments. The intern will gain many transferable skills in project management by utilizing Project Management Institute (PMI) methodologies and tools.

    Salary:

    The hourly wage for this position traditionally starts at $16.24 per hour for current undergraduate students and $17.24 per hour for those with an earned bachelor’s degree.

     

    A Day in the Life:

    The essential functions of this role are:

    + Assist in the planning and coordination of projects from initiation through delivery.

    + Create and maintain project documentation, including timelines, status reports, and meeting notes.

    + Track project progress and report on key milestones, risks, and deliverables.

    + Attend project meetings and support in preparing agendas, presentations, and follow-ups.

    + Help ensure project tasks are completed on time and align with the project goals.

    + Support other project managers in resource allocation and coordination with internal/external stakeholders.

    + Conduct research and provide data-driven insights to support decision-making.

    + Contribute to continuous improvement of project management processes and tools.

    + Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate with an accredited post-secondary institution and have completed at least one (1) year of undergraduate education.

    + Ability to analyze data sets related to discipline.

    + Ability to build relationships, establish credibility, and influence leaders at all levels.

    + Ability to conduct well-informed research.

    + Ability to solve complex, critical problems.

    + Ability to review and make recommendations on proposed changes to relevant policies and procedures.

    + Ability to maintain confidentiality.

    + Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

    Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:

    This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
