    WSP is searching for an **Associate Water/Wastewater Engineer** for our **Shelton, CT** office. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated engineer to be involved in projects with our **Northeast Water Engineering Team** and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients’ objectives and solves their challenges.

     

    Provides support to technical staff and project managers for analysis, design, bidding, and construction phase services for water and wastewater improvements. Tasks may include assisting with the analysis, development, and design of processes and infrastructure relating to water supply, transmission, distribution, and treatment, along with wastewater collection and conveyance. Provides technical assistance to developing professionals, and assists project managers with prioritizing and reviewing work by developing professionals. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.

    Your Impact

    + Perform professional water and wastewater engineering work to evaluate system improvements.

    + Conduct field measurements and collect data of existing water and wastewater facilities to assist with identifying causes and solutions of operational issues.

    + As part of a team, participate in design of water and wastewater system improvements, and development of engineering studies and reports.

    + Draft technical memoranda, reports and project correspondence.

    + Review products, services and technologies available from vendors, and incorporate into design of improvements as appropriate.

    + Analyze system hydraulics, and assist with development and evaluation of water distribution and collection system hydraulic models.

    + Develop detailed estimates of work quantities and costs to assist with evaluating alternatives, and for use by clients in budgeting and evaluation of bids.

    + Perform complex design tasks and develop drawings using AutoCAD and other software systems.

    + Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, and illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.

    + Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting.

    + Assist with development and scoping of small- to medium-sized projects.

    + Perform specialized assignments which call for an application of professional expertise.

    + Perform site work as required.

    + Assist in the preparation and implementation of site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).

    + Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

    + Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

     

    Who You Are

    Required Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering

    + 3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in water system engineering.

    + Engineer in Training Certification.

    + Knowledge of water engineering principles and practices, process design, permitting, bidding, and construction phase procedures.

    + Knowledge of water and wastewater system hydraulics.

    + Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements.

    + Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.

    + Experience with preparing permit applications for oversight agencies to address the full range of issues and conditions associated with water and wastewater projects.

    + Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.

    + Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.

    + Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.

    + Proficient with technical writing, office automation, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools.

    + Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.

    + Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

    + Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

    + Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

    + Must be able to travel to project sites in the northeastern US, which may include multiple day extended assignments on site.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit drafting

    + Licensed professional engineer in CT or NY

    + A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.

    + 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.

    Compensation:

    Expected Salary: $75,600- $129,800

     

    WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
