Fabrication Associate – Pipe Yard

Tampa, FL | $18/hr | Temp-to-Perm

**Schedule:** Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM (overtime expected)

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a mechanically skilled **Fabrication Associate** for a high-volume pipe yard in Tampa, FL. This role is hands-on, fast-moving, and essential to daily operations. Candidates who enjoy working with industrial machinery, measuring and cutting materials, and staying active throughout the day will thrive here.

This is a **temp-to-perm** opportunity with long-term potential for dependable performers.

This position offers real machinery experience—not routine assembly line work. You’ll cut, thread, groove, move, and assemble pipe using multiple fabrication tools and industrial equipment. Every day brings variety, teamwork, and hands-on learning.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain fabrication machines (band saws, torches, roll groove machines, Landis threaders, automatic welders, pneumatic banders)

• Measure, record, and cut pipe accurately using tape measures, micrometers, and gauges

• Move, sort, and stage loose and bundled pipe throughout the shop and yard

• Assemble pipe orders (single sticks or bundles) and maintain organized workflow

• Perform quality checks using appropriate gauges and measuring tools

• Inspect and maintain forklift equipment

• Follow OSHA and Ferguson safety guidelines at all times

• Work in a **non–climate-controlled yard** where temperatures can get very hot

• Support general fabrication, cutting, stacking, and shipping operations as needed

Required Skills & Experience

• **6–8 months recent hands-on machinery experience** (band saws, welders, cutters, threaders, roll groove machines, etc.)

• **6–8 months mechanical background** such as automotive, diesel, equipment repair, fabrication, or maintenance

• Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure

• Experience using gauges for quality checks

• Strong math skills for measuring, adding, and calculating pipe lengths

• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced, physically demanding yard environment

• Good communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions

• Comfortable working in **non–climate-controlled** environments

• Computer literacy for operating automated machinery

Preferred (Not Required)

• Fire sprinkler pipe fabrication experience (6–8 months)

• Background in auto mechanics, farm equipment, diesel, or machinery maintenance

• **Lunch:** 30-minute unpaid

• **Overtime:** Expected as needed

**Pay Details:** $18.00 per hour
