Medication Utilization Strategy Pharmacist

Ensures the safe and effective use of medications by providing medication order verification while assessing for optimal drug product selection dosage regimen design effective administration and drug therapy monitoring services in the UVA Medical Center. Monitors inpatient and outpatient drug therapies when appropriate and works with relating medical staff to find alternatives when needed to ensure the best care possible is being given.

_About the Role_
_This is not your typical administrative position. You’ll be the architect behind the medication use process in_ **_Epic_** _, ensuring safe, effective, and efficient use of medications across ambulatory, infusion, and community health settings. This role will support the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and lead the Hematology/Oncology subcommittee._
_What You’ll Do_
+ _Review and evaluate medications for addition to formulary_
+ _Oversee and optimize medication and EHR build and operational workflows to support safe and effective medication use._
+ _Collaborate with clinical teams across the enterprise to ensure formulary compliance._
+ _Drive system-level strategies that improve medication utilization and operational excellence._
_Ideal Candidate_

Minimum Qualifications
+ Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm. D required
+ Experience: No experience required
+ Licensure/Certifications: Licensed to practice as a Pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Virginia
Preferred Qualifications
+ Education: Pharm. D from an ACPE accredited college of Pharmacy
+ Experience: Prior experience in an Inpatient hospital Pharmacy setting, and/or experience in clinical infusion Pharmacy settings.
+ Licensure/Certifications: None
**Physical Demands –** This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
Compensation
+ The pay rate for this role starts at $64.37 per hour. New hire compensation will be determined by education and experience.
Onboarding Requirements
Background checks and pre-employment health screenings** will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a **drug screen.
Position Compensation Range: $55.67 - $89.07 Hourly
