Role Overview:
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) is the State of Indiana's lead economic development agency. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation is committed to attracting and supporting new business investment, creating new jobs for Hoosiers, and furthering our legacy as one of the top states in the nation for business.
The IEDC is offering an exciting and challenging opportunity to work for the state and to learn through hands-on experience as well as through planned engagements with the Governor of Indiana, Secretary of Commerce and leadership at the IEDC. The program will be 12 weeks long (May 11 through July 31) and 65% of the program will be day to day work dictated by the Intern Coordinator, 25% will be dedicated to the special project which will be presented by the Intern team at the end of the program, and 10% will be other engagements which include lunch & learns, meetings, tours and study reports.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position is $18 per hour, based on a 40‑hour work week.
A Day in the Life:
READI Program Management- Regional Economic Acceleration & Development Initiative
+ Assist with process, resource, and social media content creation
+ Monitor and review READI e-mails and respond to the stakeholders
+ Monitor and review grant management tool and payment discernments
+ Assist development team on site development, RFI’s, and strategy development
Data Research
+ Research site strategy and tools in other states
+ Gather information on site specific projects within Indiana
+ Support IEDC’s READI program and development team
+ Other duties as assigned
Special Project
+ Every Intern will work closely with an IEDC team member to further the mission of the IEDC. The Intern team will brainstorm together to envision a joint project to better the State of Indiana to grow the states economy and collaborate throughout the summer to detail a plan to make the vision a reality. The Intern team will present the final project at the end of the program.
What You'll Need for Success:
+ Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business, Real Estate, Finance, Political Science or related field
+ Strong interest in quality of place, developing unique locations around the state of Indiana to help all Hoosiers work, live, play, study and stay
+ Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
+ Self-motivated with the ability to multitask
+ Strong sense of time management with the ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple projects with varying levels of importance
+ Ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:
This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
