The Community College of Denver (CCD) is seeking a motivated, proactive, and creative Communications Coordinator to support the strategic execution of digital marketing and communications. Under the guidance of the Director of Marketing and Communications, this role advances CCD’s digital presence across social media platforms, supports paid digital advertising campaigns, and captures content—including photography and video—at key on- and off-campus events. focus (brand awareness, enrollment, retention and pathway support).
Description of Job
PRIMARY DUTIES
Internal and External Communications
+ Create a monthly Director’s Report using the established template, gathering key updates, data points, and highlights from departments.
+ Lead the development and delivery of CCD’s bi-weekly newsletters, curating content that prioritizes institutional updates, awareness, and engagement.
+ Serve as a primary content contributor and coordinator for the CCD Blog, including editorial planning, story sourcing, writing, and collaboration with subject-matter experts.
+ Write and edit audience-appropriate communications for announcements, email campaigns, internal updates, external messaging, and media coordination.
+ Develop compelling, student-centered content—profiles, testimonials, program highlights—to support marketing campaigns, enrollment initiatives, and strategic priorities.
Editorial Calendar:
+ Contribute to content and contribute to the MarCom editorial calendar in support of overall focus areas including, (awareness, enrollment, retention and pathway support).
+ Add events to the website calendar and editorial calendar as needed for CCD events.
Monitor Social Engagement:
+ Monitor and respond to social engagement, tags, comments, and more in regard to inquiries and other communications to ensure consistent, professional communication and community interaction.
Trend, Research and Best Practice Awareness:
+ Stay up to date on platform trends, policy changes, and engagement tactics.
+ Digital Advertising, Measurement & Reporting
Support Paid and Owned Social Asset Coordination:
+ Work with director, internal stakeholders, and external agencies or contractors to support, develop, execute and distribute digital communications campaigns (e.g., Google Ads, Meta/Facebook, and other platforms).
+ Track and analyze digital performance metrics across social media, and provide the director with a monthly report to include insights regarding engagement growth or decline, and key performance measure.
+ Recommend optimizations based on campaign metrics, audience behavior, and industry benchmarks.
+ Event Support & Content Capture
Provide on-site digital support as needed:
+ Support campus and community events, including capturing video, photography, and live content capture for promotional use across social channels.
+ Coordinate content needs with event organizers and ensure digital storytelling reflects the energy, diversity, and values of the college.
+ Create, post and monitor the Formstack RSVP and other FormStack Survey Information as needed. (this can be a learned skill so no prior experience needed).
+ Website & Calendar Updates
Contribute to updates to CCD’s online event
+ Provide calendar and select web pages (occasional landing page content support as a cross trained team member) updates as needed to ensure timely and accurate promotion of programs, deadlines, and activities.
+ Work with MarCom and IT teams to maintain brand, accessibility, and user experience standards as needed and in support of social media engagement and tracking.
+ Strategic Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support
+ Partner with content owners across the college—including Enrollment, Student Services, Academic Affairs, HR, Facilities, Pathway Owners, Workforce Innovation, IT, the Foundation and other internal CCD Clients—to source content, support campaigns, and amplify student success stories.
+ Assist with requests for Form Stack, MailChimp, ASANA and any other Marcom software as needed to support priority MarCom initiatives.
+ Coordinate with external vendors and partners to ensure brand-aligned digital deliverables.
+ Monthly report for engagement, and performance.
+ Emergency Communications Support
+ Support urgent or emergency communications on CCD’s social media digital platforms, for emergency, and awareness as needed.
+ Participation in CCD’s emergency communication protocols, and posting will require availability outside of standard business hours.Access to mobile phone for emergency notifications is required
+ Brand Stewardship & Campaign Support
+ Ensure consistency in visual identity, tone, accessibility, and message across all digital assets.
+ Coordinate content that supports institutional campaigns related to key messaging, support for enrollment, retention, engagement and measurement.
+ Serve as a brand ambassador and creative contributor to campaign ideation and execution.
+ Support and communicate compliance requirements
+ Create and maintain folder of all social media communications and reports by month and channel (4-years)
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Education:(Minimum/Required)
+ Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, digital media, journalism, advertising, or related field.
Experience: :(Minimum/Required)
+ Minimum 2 years of experience in digital marketing, content creation, or communications.
+ Experience within a higher education position in a similar role.
+ Experience coordinating digital campaigns, social media platforms, or content calendars for an organization.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: (Preferred)
+ Proficiency with tools such as ASANA, Google Ads, Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite. Experience with MailChimp, and Canva a plus.
+ Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail and visual consistency.
+ Knowledge of SEO, accessibility standards, and digital content best practices.
+ Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
+ Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
+ Flexibility and responsiveness during urgent or off-hours communication needs.
+ Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
Experience: (Preferred)
+ Experience managing social media ad budgets of more than $3,000 a month a plus
+ Photography and video capture/editing experience preferred.
