    Special Education Teacher – High School - Lake Oswego, OR

     

    Modality: Special Education Teacher

     

    Start & End Date: ASAP or 01/12/2026 (depending on which position you’re interested in)

     

    Contract Length: 6 months

     

    Schedule: Monday–Friday, typical school hours. Candidates should be available as early as 7:30 AM and available as late as 4:30 PM. Actual school schedule will be determined after interview.

     

    About the Role

     

    We are seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers to provide high-quality services to students in high school. Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, you will deliver individualized instruction, manage IEPs, and collaborate with general education staff, parents, and specialists to ensure student success.

     

    The school’s district is known for strong community involvement and high expectations of professionalism, punctuality, patience, and collaboration. Candidates must be reliable, committed, and able to represent Amergis with excellence.

    Positions Available

    + Learning Specialist

    + Caseload: 6–8 students

    + Full-time through February 13

    + Learning Specialist

    + Caseload: 27–28 students

    + Full-time January 12 – June 15

    Key Responsibilities

    + Provide direct instruction and specialized support to students with developmental and learning needs

    + Collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)

    + Deliver tutorial assistance and consult with general education staff to support inclusion

    + Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all professional standards of practice

    + Participate in team planning and contribute to a supportive, structured classroom environment

    Qualifications

    + Active Oregon Special Education Teaching License through TSPC (priority given to candidates with current OR license)

    + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred)

    + Minimum of one year teaching experience (preferred)

    + State Teacher Certification in Elementary, Secondary, or Special Teaching (preferred)

    + Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred

    + Current CPR certification, TB test/PPD or chest x-ray, and health certificate as required

    + Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

     

    Additional Details

     

    + Age Group: High School

    + Caseload: Varies by position (see above)

    + Breaks: 30-minute unpaid lunch for shifts over 6 hours

    + Interview Process: Virtual interviews with Student Services Directors and principals. Professionalism and ability to handle parent involvement are highly valued.
