    13666BRJob Description:United States Steel Corporation is a leading global steel manufacturer committed to excellence and innovation in our industry. We are seeking a Financial Analyst III to join our Risk Management team in a critical role to support our global portfolio of insurance.

     

    In this role, reporting to the Director of Corporate Risk Management, you’ll support our corporate insurance programs, captive insurance company, large construction and expansion projects, and global reinsurance placements (including London and Bermuda markets) helping shape how a large international steel producer finances and manages risk.

    What you’ll do

    + Support insurance programs across property, auto, workers compensation, umbrella/excess liability, directors and officers, construction, and other specialty lines, including coordinating invoice setup and processing, and allocating program costs to plants and business units.

    + Lead renewal analytics by gathering and validating exposure data (e.g., developing property insurance statements of values, payroll, headcount, revenue, fleet, and construction values), preparing underwriting submissions, and supporting the analysis of quotes, pricing, and coverage terms. Support captive insurance operations by assisting with policy issuance, allocating premiums to plants and business units, facilitating reinsurance cessions, and coordinating with captive managers, Finance, and Tax.

    + Partner with brokers, insurance carriers, and reinsurers in the U.S., London, and Bermuda markets to help structure insurance and reinsurance programs, and participate in negotiating limits, retentions, and coverage for high-hazard manufacturing risks.

    + Support construction risk programs, including builder’s risk, contractor liability insurance, and wrap-up (OCIP/CCIP) programs for equipment lines, facility expansions, and major maintenance/outage projects.

    + Oversee corporate insurance requirements ensuring the corporation is fully protected by reviewing contract language, coverages, and key endorsements (e.g., additional insured, primary and noncontributory, waiver of subrogation). Partner closely with Legal, Procurement, and Operations to review insurance provisions and amend contract insurance language as needed. Further, have responsibility for managing the insurance section of a third-party website to ensure all contractor insurance requirements are accurately and properly documented/evidenced.

    + Partner with business leads to lead and support corporate education on insurance requirements, processes and procedures, and to make the insurance function and insurance directly relevant to our business operators and partners.

    + Partner with risk engineering by collaborating with Operations and Protection Services in developing information for Maximum Foreseeable Loss (MFL), Normal Loss Expectancy (NLE), and Probable Maximum Loss (PML) estimates.

    What we’re looking for

    + Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.

    + 3 to 5+ years in P&C insurance, corporate risk management, or commercial brokerage/underwriting (industrial/manufacturing experience strongly preferred).

    + Strong knowledge of core P&C coverages (property, GL, auto, WC, umbrella/excess; experience with heavy manufacturing or steel/metal risks a plus).

    + Experience with captive insurance and/or reinsurance or clear aptitude and desire to learn quickly.

    + Advanced Excel skills; experience with analytics/business interruption worksheets or models a plus.

    + Excellent communication skills with the ability to present insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

    + Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, matrixed industrial environment with high attention to detail.

     

    Preferred: ARM, CPCU, CRM or similar credentials (in progress or completed), experience with large deductibles, self-insured retentions, and construction programs. RMIS/claims systems.
